Thyroid Cancer Update- Adjusting my thyroid medications to feel good again
This video is about my experience adjusting my thyroid medicine. It is often very difficult to regulate your thyroid medicines to get you feel good again. Don't lose ...
Thank you! I had my gland removed in 1991 from papillary with huge tumors
attached.I had years of problems but recently am feeling better .I just
started cytomel t3 a few months ago and want to try tirosint t4.I had every
symptom...worst was severe psychosis depression from hypothyroidism.I was
hospitalized for months.I would caution everyone not to ignore your real MD
and DO NOT stop taking meds...thyroid is the most common cause of medically
induced mental illness( Google thyroid illness and mental health) this
ruined my life and family years ago. I have some helpful sites from
legitimate sources; hypothroidmom.org, all thyroid.org, thyca.org and
thyroid.ca. Stay positive and active don't lay around .Causes worse fatigue
and depression.I am a man and think women have it more difficult to
stabilize due to monthly cycle. To high of a dose can cause fatigue...to
low you feel depressed negative meloncholy ...Cancer was the easy part. It
has been 25 years now and I survived a lot.You will all do well!!! Don't
worry...think well and it will be well!!! Shalom Jimmy
Thanks Teresa for doing this video. I also love when you say THE NEW NORM
because anyone that has issues with your thyroid knows it can be a long a
very tedious process. Im in the medical field and my story is short ..not
only did I have any idea that my thyroid was underactive, but my own Dr
couldn't give me the answers..My thyroid is underactive and went through
hell during the first year. It seems as though it took forever for the meds
to work. Thanks again and will be following you as well
I had thyroid cancer in Jan 2004. For six months after my joints felt
terrible & I was achy &tired all the time. On my 6 month check up my
endrocrinologist asked me how my Vitamin D supplements were doing that he
prescribed me. I told him he never gave me a prescription, he said he did
but I never got it. Anyhow, it turned out my parathyroids were injured
during the thyroid removal & I was difficient in Vitamin D. I was put on 50
000 units of Vit. D. for 3 months, then the joint pain was gone.
The first year especially & the first three years after my thyroid & cancer
was removed I was tired all the time even on high doses of thyroid meds.
Whenever I got tired I would get a lump in my throat when I would swallow &
a wave of exhaustion would hit me. Once I got on Vitamin D it helped & once
I switched to a low carb diet & started working out I felt better. I took
me three years to find my new norm but once I did, I would say I feel
better than I did before the surgery. It takes time.
I was diagnosed with PCOS & Hypothyroidism this year and have been riding a
roller coaster of highs and lows. I was prescribed Levothyroxine .25 and
then after three months my physician increased my dosage to .50. During the
first couple of weeks on the new dosage I noticed that I didn't feel as
foggy almost like a light switch was turned on however I still experienced
joint pain & fatigue and an overall feeling of blah. My Endo prescribed
Tirosint to see how I would respond today.
Wonderful video. I just had TT in may 2013 and am on tirosint. Was on 100
and will be bumped up to 150 in a few days. Tried synthroid and had
horrible side effects. Did have levoxyl and liked it but it was pulled so
now on tirosint. Still hypo on 100 so just got new blood work so Dr is
prescribing 150. Will post and let you know how it goes. Thanks again for
your video.
I'm a Papillary cancer survivor since Nov. 2009... Been on Levoxyl 125 and
Cytomel .5 ever since until the Levoxyl recall, they switched me to
Synthroid had an allergic reaction, very bad!! now for the past week I have
been on Tirosint 125 and I am feeling pretty good so far!! thank god there
was another option out there!!
I stopped taking it for a week or so, but I am back on the Cytomel..it
kinda makes my stomach feel yukky and i have not been on Tirosint a full 6
weeks yet so I feel ok but not awesome like I was on Levoxyl... will see...
hopefully i will level out ....
yes, I am sooo glad there are options! I love Cytomel! It is the magic
bullet. So you are on Tirosint now, but what about the Cytomel? Did you
stop taking Cytomel? I am just so happy to basically feel good! yay!
Great explanation! I will be having surgery in the next month or so and
it's good to have some idea as to what to look forward to. Love the birds
singing in the background! :) Take care!
Robin, I am glad you are feeling better! I remember being Hypo and suddenly
it would just hit me, and I would have to take a nap- like right that
minute! No fun!
I hope you let us know how your surgery went. Keep in touch. God bless.
Dancing With the Stars co-host Brooke Burke Charvet Has Thyroid Cancer
Brooke Burke-Charvet took to YouTube today to tell fans she has thyroid cancer. "I need to have a thyroidectomy, which means that I'm going to have a nice big ...
Brooke you are an amazing women I know you will once again come out
victorious! I always say things can always be "worse" it's very curable and
you will be treated appropiately. Thanks for sharing with all your fans, we
highly admire you in every aspect. As a mom you are my hero!
I've already heard of it and theres a website called 20 bananas or
something. I'm just not gonna play around with sugar like that. Diabetes
runs in my family and I can't take cues from the very young who have no
issues because they are too young to have developed them yet. I just like
to eat real food. Veggies and fruit included but definitely not
exclusively. I only wish to disregard grain because I don't think its good
for people. I haven't been successful because my bf keeps bringing it home
Yeah. I know. Things with seeds are in the fruit category. My bf either
makes me organic bacon & pastured eggs or a plate of fruit (apples oranges,
cucumber, tomato and avocado) for breakfast. I don't do too many fruits
because of the fructose. Not sure about the lifespan of fruitarians and
besides I eat all foods just trying to make sure they are natural as
possible without additives. More interested in my fat percentages.
Centenarians usually have high cholesterol. Yay! Must not be that bad.
Ive checked the info. Cruciferous vegetable ARE Goitrogens and goitrogens
do block iodine absorption. I read something crazy about broccoli for
Graves disease even though it has some iodine because it is still a
goitrogen even w/ organic iodine. This is more 2 inform people about that.
I can't get too deep into the diseases and how they work but I have read
that iodine is good for hyper and hypo under Dr Brownstein. There's lots of
info about it on like Curezone and maybe EarthClinic. Thanks!
That's actually incorrect...the thyroid needs iodine when in proper
balance. If there is a problem on the hyper side...more is needed cuz body
is depleting it faster than it should. On the hypo side...not allowed to
have iodine cuz body can't process it. If thyroid has been removed...there
are certain green veggies that must be avoided...like spinach, brocolli,
kelp, etc...cuz that's too much iodine....the body will treat it as poison.
I was hyper, now hypo with half a thyroid that is hypo.
Thanks SO much!! This was very informative...and FUN!! I noticed pain and
swelling in my neck when I would have green juices/smoothies and looked up
information on thyroid issues and vegetables. I had never even heard of the
connection before. This is the best, clearest and most entertaining
information about it that I found online so far. I have absolutely
subscribed to your channel. Thanks again, and all the best to you! :)
My cousin/sister just had her thyroid removed for graves disease. I begged
her not to without trying some natural stuff first. She didn't want to
upset the doctor. Please the doctors are completely upset with me and I
don't care. I want to try all avenues before removing any body parts and
being on pills for life. At least you are knowledgeable about it.
Unfortunatey too much iodine exacerbates ACNE. I have to avoid too much
Iodine too in order to avoid my cystic acne. What can I eat? I've been
putting Romaine Lettuce and Cucumbers in my smoothies. I think they're ok?
Debbie downer here but I've heard too much Iron is not good for the heart.
Simply rotate the green vegetables and avoid eating exorbitant amounts of
any one type (especially cruciferous) for extended periods. And take a
simple multivitamin. But the topics sure have the potential to stomp on the
proverbial ant hill, doesn't it.
So why were they mentioning it? Were they saying something against veggies
or just to cook them or limit them etc? Hope you find the rest of my vids
interesting. I make a lot of womans health vids but others are unisex.
This video was TOO FUNNY! Yet informative! I had a needle biopsy on my
thyroid months ago. Everything is fine. Just prior, when researching it, I
found out, that, the thyroid, is a "butterfly-shaped" organ. ;o)
Exactly. If you ever had a goiter...cancerous...you can never eat those
foods again. Goitergenic foods. Make the goiters grow back...becuz the body
can't process...it gets stored in a goiter....vicious cycle.
You should follow dr furhman and he uses alot of green veggies cruciferous
ect. Yes soup is a great way to get veggeies but i think there is more to
the iodine than greens. Kelp is a good source of iodine.
Lol. I tried to have fun sharing the message. I know people are gonna come
and start dissing me so I didn't want it to be too heavy. I'll let you
claim the thyroid as your organ then. Haha.
