Just put a period in the last name spot and you can have any username you want.

I just saw your video, but had a hard time following, because it was so fast - if you could send me the instructions, that would be helpful. I have an existing youtube account, but what I dont like is that once someone watches my video - it automatically transfers them to one of my other videos. I'm working on a web page and linking to my youtube, but when the video ends - up pops all my others that I dont want shown. I only want one video visible on my web page - Thanks for you help!

Lately they keep disconnecting your account on ie. trying to push you to chrome. google page takes longer and longer. trying to push you to chrome. my account was made waaaay before google even found out about youtube from ie with a username and a password, not with a google/gmail account. why are they modifying all this? i don't have blogger, don't need it. don't have gmail, don't need it. don't have google phone, don't need it. I don't need all this google stuff. but who cares?

Well that's it then...I've tried and tried. Apparently you can no longer have your old YouTube account like we all had, you have to stupidly have it be some Google piece of shit where it looks stupid. How dorky is that to flat out have your name first and last as the account name and not some cool username? Same here that they asked me at first but then forced me later it's like well don't even worry about asking me. Plus I can still see my old one but can't get to it -

I wanted to make another account and I did but but my youtube account name said (name)@gmail.com I don't want it to say that and the worse thing was when I went on to my channel it said something about making my channel visible on youtube and when it was doing that it was taking forever and I clicked the cross at the top right corner of the internet cuzz it didn't look like anything was going to happen.

my channel is called daleksmelleggs cuzz I made my account in 2009, during an old version of youtube so it was still posibble to make an account with a username, then there was a time where I thought about amking a second account, but then like a few days later there was this youtube update and I noticed it was no longer possible to create an account with a username damm!!!!!!

I tried to make a new account just for uploading videos and fucking google screwed everything up. I couldn't navigate anything and after about 45 minutes of just trying to hide my real name from the public I gave up. Deleted the entire account. Bullshit how everything is changing.

I felt the same way, now it's just a mess. Before we had control over how and what was on our page. It's confusing and just a pain to try to edit anything. They tried to hard to encompass everything, ruined it all in my opinion. It's hard to find help to fix anything too.

Note that when you click around your account icon within YouTube - there are actually 2 account columns, the YouTube on the left is easy to miss - it is too easy to start going into your *Google* acct on right when you really want to make changes to your YouTube acct

you used to be able to create an actual non-google individual 'Youtube' account. can you do that now? if so, how? it would ask you to connect it to the google account, but it would not be forced...

Yes, it IS a waste of time, you end up going around in circles. All I wanted to do was to change my profile pic but it turned into a disgusting nightmare.It shouldn't have to be this complicated.
