The upholstery guy shaved about 3" off the riders position and tapered to about 2" off the rest. I find it just as comfortable and way nicer to ride. Little bit lower ...
I have alway found the center of gravity way to high on both my KLRs but I
find it much better all around being a little lower. Of course it may be my
center of gravity is just too high. I avoided the Dog Bones because of the
reduced ground clearance and front suspension adjustments they recommend.
Some guys just make their own lowering links, there's nothing to them, it
may be worth a try first if you don't want to risk the seat.
Cool. So I just got a KLR and I am getting the Lowering links installed
today. That should Lower the bike 2". If I get the seat shaved at another
two inches that would be 4" off stock's 35", leaving me at 31" which can
easily accomodate my 5'6" 29" in seam. Tell me, is the seat comfortable
after the alteration? Thanx!
Your New KLR seat hight is Perfect... Has the Lowerd postion effected your
Geometry to the point its bothersome??? How does the seat feel compaired to
Stock??? I'm also considerd the DOG BONES and lowering of the front Shocks
as a fix...
I was a little worried if I would feel the frame of the seat through the
little foam material left but I don't at all. I weigh about 210 lbs but
it's still comfortable. I would do it again for sure.
I am 5' 4" (163cm) with a 28" inseam. This motorcycle is a 1996 Suzuki DR350SE with a 36" seat height. Forks have been slid up the triple clamps by about .75", ...
I like to see you do that with a 500 pounds plus bike like a BMW dual sport
with a 33" seat height. My 12 year old nephew can do wheelies on your toy
bike.
+Lilox Luv I have never had the opportunity, but I'd like to try. Thanks for the tip.

Walk thru of custom motorcycle seat build on Kawasaki KLR650 ** *IN HD* **
I have tried quite a few aftermarket seats for my 2012 KLR650. None really performed as well as I wanted. The stock seat SUCKS..as you will see why in this ...
Use a pro and get them to allow you to sit on seat before covering. It's
worth spending the cash so it didn't look bumpy with big folds in corners.
Your bike is worth it.
you can not buy foam that is appropriate for seats in a spray can. get the foam here : foamfactory.com use 1" Rebond as bottom layer and shape it to contour to you., and use 1-2" hd-lux poly as the top layer.
Hi Man, I am trying to make a custom HD Sporster solo seat ...I took an old

board covered with a towel and STEAMED it damp ...But it still wants to
bunch up around the front and rear curved.....ANY help will Be Greatly
Appreciated Man. Sincerely Tony of Charleston,South Carolina
hard to say, it does require some yanking and good stapling technique... my first seat had 'pleats' to accommodate the bunching you speak of. However, perhaps you should try starting your stapling with the front of seat , just a few staples to hold it...then go to the back (the longest span)...and REALLY stretch it that way and then staple it. From there, you really want to work your staples first top right a few. then bottom left, then top left, then botttom right....keep going meticulously, making sure you pull super tight on each one, but only do a little bit (inch or so) before going to the next section. Sometimes it is handy to make sure you dont have too much extra vinyl , so trim it tight enough that you just have some to pull on, and dont leave a bunch underneath that you have to negotiate.i have even used pliers with a dish towel wrapped so not to mar....to pull it tight... I have done a few...and have managed to get it down to not have any bunching visible. hope this made sense...and helped ! good luck
that seat is incredibly comfortable...much better then Sargent and others. I wound up putting over 20K miles on that seat....now I have sold the bike, and bought a KTM 690 Enduro....thanks for watching!
Short rider vs. tall seat height
Short little clip on some of the ways I get around riding a taller bike. I'll def. be doing a few more of these in the future.
+Xahid Hasan What did you do? I'd say go ahead and buy it. It's not a very tall bike, and once you get used to it, you will be comfortable balancing it on one leg. Plus, since it's a sports bike you will be mostly on pavements where surface is mostly level :)
Hey I forgot to mention, on the Yamaha WR 250X, and the Kawasaki Versys, you can change the tires to knobbies, For off road action. On the KLR 650 you can ...
Sorry for the blurp on PulpMx... Anyway, finally a seat shaving video. Great way to lower your bike! Hope it all makes sense in this video. Please subscribe and ...
Wish you had of uploaded earlier, I shaved mine down last night around 6-7

noticing while doing it up front, sucks but what do yah do, a little bit of
foam taken off from previous cuts I got it all good haha
Thank you so much for this video! i just bought a new 250f and im a shorter
person. Im planning on getting a seat and chaving it down and adding a
bump. For grip and Control that i can reach
Nice but i have one problem and that is I got a new seat cover and when I
try to staple it the staples in the back of the seat almost come trough so
do you know if shorter will do?
