The thing is Toyota and other car manufacturers know people won't do that because it takes extra effort so they want the frames to hold up and be safe even when they rust.Toyota offered frame replacements to all affected vehicles in cold-weather climates where they salt the roads. Other than the rusting issue the frames were fine.

i live in az, we don't even have a wet season, idk if its the extreme heat constantly or just bad car care from owners, just seems like alot of the frontiers/taco have paint issues on the hood+roof, wouldn't stop me from purchasing a tacoma though, they are amazing little trucks

+freedomnutz I own an '03 taco and the original white paint still looks great, I don't garage it but I do wash/wax it every now and again. The plastic on the headlights has turned yellow from the sun exposure.All you have to do is hose off the under-body of the truck after driving it on salty roads, takes 5 minutes to do and my frame has remained completely rust free. If you maintain this vehicle properly (according to the owners manual) it will last you for hundreds of thousands of miles more than you will want to drive it for.
