Apply cool running water for 20mins and a clean non-adherent dressing or
clingfilm afterwards. Covering a partial thickness burn (2nd deg) limits
exposure of nerves to air reducing pain. In any situation this is the
simplest and most effective 1st aid. All the rest is either impractical,
superfluous, costly or even dangerous or counterproductive. None of the
additions here are proven in studies. Don' put anything extra on burns
except the dressing. Provide pain relief. Keep it simple.
We found vinegar baths work wonders on burns. I like to add some lavender
essential oil in too which is soothing. Once out of the bath, we use
lanolin cream (found in the baby isle.) It allows the wound to breath but
heal nicely which yields less scars than neosporin and heals faster. Must
test in small area to make sure you're not allergic. Then we cover with
non-stick pads and sterile gauze. If you're a parent you'll find that
lanolin cream is awesome for most owies!
thank you so much for the video. my 15 month old son pulled a hot cup of

heal faster, what can i do to minimize scaring. i appreciate any help.
please help us.
secondary infections are really common whenever the skin is broken. I would
use Mycostatin, Nilstat, Nystat-Rx, Nystex, O-V Staticin or Clotrimazole
(Lotrimin) creams and lotions can be applied to superficial skin
infections. Oral Rx Diflucan may also aid in healing and treatment. Thanks,
Nurse Amy
You guys are so wonderful for doing these videos for us. Thank you so much.
I have a question; 2nd and 3rd degree burn victims often get thrush, (I was
burned years ago and got it) what can you do about this in a shtf
situation? Thank you again.
