+Logic Labs That is true. Looks like all the sets that had it are discontinued. I was buying the Pyramid sets for less than $10 just to get the tan plates.
I do not like the idea of new green as plates used to dither/blend over
other baseplates like water are not as common in that green. I think it
would be best if lego had done say 2 packs @ 10USD and just expanded the
colours and SOLD 32X16 plates too. The tan is a neat idea but I do not see
much of a use for it as I can with green and blue. Unless you are aiming to
mimic Seattle or California lawns in summer or really into dessert scenes.
It also feels like you are paying a premium for that packaging as I am sure
it costs a lot more than the shrink wrap and paper. I foresee a decline in
sales as I can see kids getting a small set over a baseplate given the
choice at 8usd.
...and the sad news is the blue and normal green baseplates are
discontinued. I'm not really concerned about the green baseplate but the
blue one was the easiest option for water. It looks as if global warming
has come early for LEGO City and the water has been evaporated leaving
behind sand :P
Yeah, don't forget LEGO Pirates and LEGO City - Deep Sea is due to be
released later this year. What a strange marketing move from LEGO...
Could be that we're getting a blue plate somewhere between April and August. A few LEGO store employees mentioned there will be more colors 'soon', but I would take that with a grain of salt.
+Mrs Archie Leach I have white baseplates :) They are mostly from old sets. But - it has not been made in a while
