It pains me how they had to end his character in such a tragic way. I know the actor wanted out, but couldn't they have just let him go into the army? What is with grey's anatomy's trend of treating their characters like shit. No happy endings.

It wasn't their idea, he asked to leave the show. But I do wish they wouldn't have killed his character, if he would've just left the hospital his character could've been brought back if he changed his mind later on. Obviously now there's no chance of that since he's dead. He was definitely my favorite too, the series isn't the same without him and izzie

I think it was something about the hospital's reputation being quite poor at the time and they were firing people who were making mistakes, and I think Izzie messed up with a patient who died as a result of her negligence? It was a long time ago, I can't remember all the details apart from thinking it was a stupid storyline just to get the Izzie character out as Katherine Heigl suddenly changed her mind about wanting to stay on the show so they had to come up with some sudden exit. I miss Izzie.

After speculation that Izzie would be killed off in the fifth season, the character was diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic melanoma. She married Alex in the series' one-hundredth episode, and afterwards, her tumor was successfully removed. Izzie made her final appearance in the sixth season, leaving Seattle after Alex ended their relationship. Heigl requested to be released from her contract 18 months early, in order to spend more time with her family. ( cited from wikipedia)

Are you idiot?! She didn't died, her heart just stopped for a few minutes, then Richard says 'Screw It' and they start discharging her, after that, she opened her eyes. A few weeks later, when she came back to work, she got fired because of the stupid Charles from Mercy West.

this scene makes me wish izzie had never left the show. katherine is such an amazing actress and she deserved the emmy for izzie's character because she did such a great job with her. grey's will never be the same about her optimism and happy disposition. i'm a very happy and optimistic person myself so i see myself in her a lot, so i wish i got to see her story in grey's finally get some closure. :/
