How to fix the child safety tassel should it come apart.
Breakaway tassel not holding
Deadly Window Cords- Child Safety Tassels captivate and strangle kids.
Watch this video to see how "safe" child safety tassels really are. Do they really prevent strangulations? As a consumer, it might look much safer to see 2 ...
People.....BIGGER PICTURE, PLEASE!!!! This is not about what they are
called. This is not about what they are supposed to do. This is about
children dying. The purpose of this video is to show how easy it is to
bypass "safety" devices installed by the manufacturer of the window blind.
Tragically I know of 2 children who have DIED of cord accidents in the last
4 years. One just happened 3 days ago. Both families had installed safety
kits purchased in stores. Both children were able to bypass the safety
devices by pulling them out of the wall or disassembling the device to keep
cords out of the way. Both kids were left alone for less than 5 minutes.
In one instance, the child was left alone for 2 minutes - just long enough
for his mom to answer the door for the neighbor to come in to the house.
He strangled in the living room on the window blind cords behind the
couch. It takes less than 1 minute for a child to die by cord
strangulation once entangled in the cords.
The safety stops which prevent the cord being pulled back through the blind
(just above the tassels) are not fitted in the correct place. They should
be just beneath the headrail when the blind is fully lowered then the
tassels will be safe if they are shortened to be just below the stops. Your
videos should be presented by someone with blinds experience who can fully
explain how the child safe elements work with good examples of badly fitted
blinds like the one you are demonstrating.
"safety tassels" also known as "break away tassels" are suppose to break
apart. They also allow two cords in the tassel. Yes it creates the loops
but the tassel breaks apart with minimal pressure. Are these really "safety
tassels" in this video or is it a regular tassel that you just put one
string per tassel? thanks.
