Three human traffickers who smuggled a Slovakian couple into Scotland in a bid to force the woman into a sham marriage have each been jailed for three years.
Susan and Gerard's Wedding Part 1
Piping the wedding party to Islington Town Hall in London. Thanks to Justin, my godson for the camera work.
Yes, acetyl pipes are very practical - I've been playing two acetyl sets
over the last 4 years now: first a basic set by Dunbar of Canada (I just
had the stocks and drones shipped over) and now my McCallum set. If you
play for lengthy periods, you'll need a moisture control system for the
drone reeds. I can recommend the V3 Drier System, which I've been using
over the last 4 years. It will take a long time for acetyl to catch on - at
least we're at the forefront of modern technology !
It's very nice, I love the practicality of acetyl. It is nice to know that
I had to ask you if you were playing the acetyl set, and that there wasn't
an obvious difference in sound or appearance to black-wood sets. I ordered
myself a p2 McCallum acetyl set with imitation ivory/nickel and added
nickel slides. It is supposed to be delivered in 4-6 weeks. I'll post a
video of it once I receive it. I just wish I could find more videos of
pipers playing these acetyl sets.
I ordered it with a bannatyne moisture control system(the kind with a long
sleeve and a canister at the end) hopefully that will be enough for me. I
found a newer bannatyne system after I had already ordered that one. The
newer one uses 4 sleeves that connect to a canister, chanter stock, and
drone stocks. I saw you video with the V3 system, it looked quite heavy
though. Any idea what it weighs?
I've only got a set of bathrooms scales, but the V3 weighs definately less
than a bag of sugar - I would say about 0.6kg or about 1.3 lbs. Once you
get used to it (I use it all through the year), you'll forget it's there.
Also you need moisture getting to the chanter reed, so the fourth sleeve to
the chanter stock is not a good idea, I feel.
