I had never heard the Carrie Underwood version, and while i'm not a HUGE Lauren fan (no offense to anyone who is :) I just happen to like Hayley) I actually like Laurens version better! I thought for sure I would like Carrie's better! Carrie has such a big powerful voice..but I agree Lauren put a certain flar to it that made the song really special. Definently more color and life in it. But Carrie Underwood sings it amazingly as well

@Eliviner i respectfully disagree with you there. Lauren's performance was not more powerful. She was out of breath on the bridge part. Lauren sang a short version live, and yet it was breathy. Carrie sang the whole song (watch her Good Morning America performance.) and it needs less effort than Lauren. imo, Lauren will improve in the future, but she needs to pick songs suited for her voice and FOTF is not one of it.

@Eliviner Ohhh I see what you mean :) Lauren's voice is powerful but it's not poweful enough to sing Flat on the floor. But I'm sure, She'll improve and have a will have a more stunning voice when she turns 18. but for now, she needs to pick songs that is comfortable with her. I think a perfect song would be "How Do I Live" or "I Need You" both sung by Leann Rimes. she'll slay those two!

I love Carrie to death, don't get me wrong. She's my favorite, but Lauren Alaina brought alot more flavor to this song and I wanted to dance to her version. This version is alright but Lauren rocked out. I'm not saying she's better than Carrie, but they both bring something different to their music! :)

Favorite beat by Carrie. I wish I knew how to read music but I'm music-illiterate. Sometimes I feel like I could be a decent lyricist if I knew how to write music. Love the lyrics here too but I can relate to Crazy Dreams much better(not that this song is unrelatable but being an aspiring author)...

Like most people who love music, I cannot stand Nickelback. They're just so.....derivative. They took *every* cliche from late 90s "post-grunge" alt rock, put it in a blender, and ran it through shiny modern production values. It's a great *formula* for getting songs on the radio. However, unlike Coldplay(another band people love to hate), they never really progressed or evolved their sound...*at all*. *BUT....* as someone who writes/records music myself, I try to find inspiration in *all* music. It's why I'm not ashamed to say I love Britney Spears' *"Toxic"*; it's a *great* song. So....being honest, I must admit that Chad guy can write a riff. Nickelback's heavy metalesque riffs definitely help redeem them a bit. :)

Lauren obviously struggles while singing this song. Lauren even changes this song during concerts to make it easy for her and "not challenging." Notice that line "i aint gonna raise my body 'til there aint no sign..."? Lauren loses her voice in that part and that couldnt be considered to be due to her husky voice. I'm not a hater and even had my bet on Lauren as the American Idol Season 10. I'm just trying to be objective.

Carrie never lip synchs if you knew anything about her - she doesn't have to - she's an amazing live performer - I saw two of her concerts this year and they were both amazing - she sounds better live than on her CD's =Carrie was the Top Country Female Touring artist in 2008 - over 1.2 million people saw her concerts and she did over 137 concerts

Agreed. I have to say I think that is partly because of their success on American Idol. You've got to sound good live or you're gone (for the most part, obviously there are exceptions we see them every year!) But I think AI helps them to develop that talent even further.

honestly, Carrie doesn't or won't consider lip syncing. and clearly, this performance isn't. American Idol offers good training to its contestants that somehow suggests that lip syncing will get you nowhere.
