Grandpa, will be nice to clean the whole thing if you just has it there. If you remove the caliper holder, remove the pins a boots, why not cleaning with metal brush, soap/water or brake cleaner , even the little hole for the pins ? Or you could used Qtips and then put inside those holes AGS SIL-GLYDE brake lubricant, then with a little paint brush add to the boots. A good job can last long time. And to finish, you can spray with WD40 the whole caliper holder and just dry with a clothe in that way the WD40 protect front rust.

This video needs to get more attention, because the slider pins freezing up are a common reason why the brakes will sometimes, stick locking one side up. Problem is that there are no more new calipers and all of the "new" ones are all remans that are questionable on how they did the pin slide groove. Thanks for the video.

Watchers and readers should be aware that copper grease should NEVER be used the way you may have said in the comments(I know you say not to). Copper grease is ONLY for metal on metal parts. It will eat away at rubber. Only on opposing calipers should you put copper grease on pins, between shims and pads and other metal to metal parts.

When the pin begins to have resistance and push back because of trapped air try this trick. Use a pick to gently pull the rubber boot back in one spot so the trapped air can escape while you push the pin fully inward. Take the pick out and the caliper pin should be seated properly. Otherwise look for debris or liquid causing the 'pushback'. Take care

Yeah great, but HOW do you get a frozen one out? Mine's really in there! Been soaking 'er over night in PB Blaster. Also, I like to clean all those parts up on my bench grinder (wire wheel) before reassembly, ESPECIALLY the pins, which should be prefectly clean. A set of rubber replacemnent boots is like $10 in EBay. I highly recommend that too.
https://gp4.googleusercontent.com/-EJ4qsZ6QQTg/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/ZeuOuZoCX2U/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
Yes, you are correct. There can be an issue with the lower pin which has a rubber ring on the end of it. There is a pin boot repair kit, comes with new outer boots and the 'rubber ring' that attaches at the end of the pin. I may try and do a follow up video,or post more info on this subject. Thanks for the watching and commenting!

I personally use silicon grease - had a lot more success keeping both contaminants out and maintaining the rubber - it never seizes! unlike all high temp grease I've used over the years . Rubber luv's silicon lol

silicone grease ONLY for slide pins...other grease make the rubber swell preventing the pin from sliding

+Levi Gabrielsen as you carve into the slide bend your knees and get real low keeping more weight on your front foot as you start to slide straiten your legs a bit leaning back while turning shoulders and hips as u get to 180 position very quickly bend your knees again so u dont fall .another thing i did was to get pivots down on both feet,so ride fakey pivot 180 keep doing this getting faster and lower then do the same with front foot

The same thing happened to me for the longest time. What I had to do was laying less on my back foot. And also, lean back and turn hard enough to where you're almost sliding already then barely kick and it should go out. Also, wait till your wheels are warm. Cruise around a bit to warm them up. They slide easier. Pivot in your hips and shoulders as much as possible too.

I ride the z-flex street rocket. Is that good for down hill? It does pretty well and is amazing with sliding! Was the board made for downhill and crusing?
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-3yp0REz-0lQ/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAYQ/UWfUhJ7VdwE/photo.jpg?sz=64
Hey , I did more research and I'm actually riding the z-skate. It was made for every day uses from trans port to down hill bombing . However this thing is not made to go down at like 60mph , but can be used for downhill . I like it (sorry for bad grammar)
