Took the Jeep out to get a few videos and ended up breaking something in the front axle. I haven't gotten a chance to pull the diff cover yet, but I did pull the front ...
I just put some on, I will wait until tomorrow to see if it still squeaks
or not. I hope this fixes it cause this lubricant STINKS XP. I would hate
for this all to be a wasted effort AND my for my Jeep to smell like oil...
Worked like a charm! Looks like I will be doing this from now on. Thanks again for the tip! It saved me a trip to the dealership. Also, I put one of those Febreze car fresheners on the defroster vent to quickly get rid of the light oil smell.
Didn't seem like a great idea pulling with the winch when the front
passenger is clearly not able to move forward any due to the embankment. Is
that what caused the driveshaft to break as it did?
+Chris Maroney That whole day was a "not great ideas"... But the driveshaft failure was probably due over angle of the joint. The owner wouldn't spring for the $$ for a CV shaft up front because he wanted to run a standard joint to keep hard caster numbers while driving on the street. Yes, this is still a street driven rig. He runs RCVs with slugs so the driveshaft always spins. In theory on the street, worked great.. tight steering. Trail trips would kill a joint every time and it finally busted an Atlas yoke before he upgraded.
