Yes you can access them both legitimately - there's an unlocked gate in the
subway to access the down platform. At peak times it is possible for trains
to stop at them.
They re-engined the vast majority of them! The current plans are for new
diesel, electric and combined diesel/electric replacements to be built by
Hitachi.
