One of my favorite SRV concerts. I've never seen him play with so much energy and that's saying a lot. Hard to believe that anybody can come out and floor it like that without skipping a beat. It's proof they didn't need the powder to motivate and get the job done. Amazing!

FYI....Stevie checked into rehab in the fall of 1986 and was clean after that. If the date on this is accurate then Stevie was clean. Judging by the coherent playing, I'd say he's very clear headed. Stevie, I miss you so much. We'll never forget.

Stevie was always great. But this was after he cleaned up, and like his last Austin City Limits appearance, he is white hot and smokin' with his playing. Almost other worldly. God had to take him, he was getting too close to perfection.

Actually, it was mixed in with his choice of whiskey. He'd use it as a morning pick me up. It crystallized in his stomach and that's what almost killed him
