+Blezio Either will have good precision. Possibly better with the Kapex. Though Bosch engineers would no doubt question that opinion.I have an older Makita miter saw. Very precise. Though some say the newer Makita models are not as well made as the older makes.
+WorkshopAddict Got the Saw today, it's huge. Carrying it isn't nice, the weight, yes it's heavy, but what is really annoying. When picking it up on the handle the machine tilts and does it in such a way, my hand sort of got jammed between the handle and the arm. They should have balanced it better. I checked the machine, and on the blade, one tooth is damaged. I can only find pics from the side of the Hitatchi. Does it have straight teeth. Like my fav. now: https://www.ecotools.nl/zaagblad-305-vd/
+WorkshopAddict Thanks, that's a quick reaction :). I ordered a GCM 12 GDL. It comes with a 305 mm 2 608 642 103 blade (72 tooth). First i have to try it, but if i don't like the blade it came with i want options. The Hitachi is on my shortlist.
+justRijk The blade that I was mentioning is the Hitachi 726101 90 tooth tungsten carbide tipped 12 inch ATB. That blade was great. I now have a 80 tooth Irwin Marples blade that is okay, but not as nice as the Hitachi. If you are interested in the Hitachi, you can get it here on amazon: //www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006HKB42/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0006HKB42&linkCode=as2&tag=worksaddic-20&linkId=3SA7JTKJXOWEVED3
+David Handley We were using a shotgun mic in this video and have since switched over to wireless lav mics. Hopefully this won't happen again. Thanks for the comment and let us know how you like the saw.
I like the idea of using a chop saw for fine cutting (i. e. furniture).
Have you checked the accuracy of it's angles (90 degrees especially)? I
returned a Ryobi slider because getting a right angle was impossible - went
with a standard DeWalt saw.
+WorkshopAddict I love my Sawstop. However, I only started woodworking when I retired. I also am a major klutz, so I figured that one of my fingers was worth the extra cost. I’m also lucky that I have the resources to buy lots of nice equipment that makes up for my lack of experience.I bought the 3 HP Professional and as a cabinet saw it’s a champ. My skills don’t warrant such a nice saw, but I’ll get there!
+Ron Berntson The saw is now $599 at our local Home Depot. Saw Stop! How do you like it. I have looked at that saw a half a dozen times at Woodcraft. I really like how it is built.
It does not have a laser or light standard. You can buy the laser for it pretty cheap. //www.boschtools.com/Products/Tools/Pages/BoschProductDetail.aspx?pid=ls010
I have this saw (10 inch) and GTA2600 stand. It is a dream to use, and
after initial frustration with bevelling to the right (you have to tilt
left slighlty first..) it really was very easy to do a variety of mitre and
bevel cuts. I use it for fitted bedrooms to cut cornice, skirting and even
top infills on the robes as it has a big cross cut capacity. The one draw
back using it for this type of work is the weight, as bedrooms are
typically on the 1st and sometimes 2nd floor, so wrestling this up 2
flights of steps can feel like you've done half a days work before you
start a job! The solenoid electric safety switch does take a little
adjusting too, which i didnt expect to find a problem, but you'll see what
i mean if you ever get your hands on this saw. When i first mounted it on
the GTA stand, i did think it was a little high, but its actually a really
nice working height and once its setup you can confidently cut 3 metre plus
legths of skirting down without worrying about hanging on to ends or
balancing them etc. Having the controls upfront is a real plus, and being
able to get such a monster of a saw to spin and lean in whichever direction
you need quickly, is very empowering on a job and does save time, and
increase working momentum. M i ne came perfectly tuned out of the box, but
for anyone having issues with accuracy, an engineers square and the
supplied onboard allen wrench mean you can fine tune the saw in about 5
minutes or less. If you are a mobile tradesman like me, then i suggest
re-calibrating it every other month as taking knocks while its transported
in the van can knock it out of allignment over time. I got a bargain via
the company i sub contract for and picked up the saw and stand as a package
for £460. but would be happy to have paid £600 having used it.
It looks like you have to look through the slots to see the angle? I like
dewalts angle stop better its just a tab. I like the rail extension usually
they are horribly designed on a lot of models. I love the idea of being
able to adjust your bevel from the front. Being able to change the handle
is ingenious, I find it nice to be able to use both styles depending what
your doing. The only thing I wish it had was a micro adjuster for the
bevel. The camera guy could have done a little better job.
@bosch4life The current vacuum or dust extractor from Bosch is the GAS25 or
the GAS50. These are 25 litre and 50 litre capacities respectively. I'm
afraid we don't have a video for this. Full specifications can be seen on
the Toolstop website though.
It's so difficult to get a review on this exact saw as all the dicks out
there keep labelling their reviews as GCM 12 SD when they have the GCM 12
GDL (glide system). There's loads of info on the GDL one but not much on
this.
can i do bevel cuts on the long edges of wood? i want to make triangluar
wood (mouldings?) but im unsure if i have to buy a table saw. Ideally i
woul just like a mitre saw (if it can do those cuts.
@ElJackErnestoAndo We're very sorry to hear about your problems. We hope it
doesn't put you off Bosch in the future as this is not a typical report we
hear about this particular machine.
@neutron7 Sorry mate, this is the current UK model. The USA has the axial
glide model, not arriving in the UK until Q3 2011. Once it arrives here
Toolstop will be the 1st to review it.
@ElJackErnestoAndo Is it still under warranty? Even if it has expired you
may still get it fixed under warranty because you had the table replaced
recently as well.
hello i have the bosch 4310 mitre saw i was wondering if bosch has a vacume
for the dust if so what is the model number and is there a video reveiw for
it
A side note - the biggest let down on this machine aside from its weight,
is dust extraction. Even hooked up to my festool vac, its almost non
existent.
@pitchwest If you have a Bosch vacuum cleaner, all you have to do is plug
the saw into the vacuum cleaner, switch the vacuum to "Power Tool
Activation" and the vacuum will turn on whenever you pull the trigger on
the saw. Hope this helps! And thanks for the comment!
@MrSilverism Hello, and thank you for your interest in the Glide Saw! Yes!
It will be available in Europe but not until September. Europe will be
calling this saw the GCM12GDL. I do hope this helps! Please let us know if
you have any additional questions!
if this saw cuts with the same smooth cut as the Kapex i.e. no saw kerf
grooves in the piece, then festool look out and my kapex are on e bay. let
me know where I can try it out. Does it have the laser ? Cal
