Trysor y Cenedl. National Treasure. Nuff Said. Lol welsh cakes are the only thing my Mamgu (Gran) can't make properly even though she's a fab cook (That's the one thing my Mam makes better than she does xP). She either makes them too thin or over cooks them a little. I'll have to show her this video. =P "Nigella eat your heart out." FFAITH/FACT Happy belated St David's Day everyone Dydd Gwyl Dewi hapus hwyr i Bawb.

Mrs Hepplewhite, was the best. Poor Margaret,,, I.ll miss you. Guess what was missing from the kitchen this morning - the 48 tins of salmon and two tins of cream! Whoever in their right mind would want to steal fish and cream? Charlie: Cat burglers! Gorffwys mewn tangnefedd /|\

Maragret John is such a character who has proved that you can make a 1st rate career in old age. Great seeing her making welsh cakes lol. Spot-on recipe too. I'm glad she didn't add any spice or nutmeg or other muck English people put in Welsh cakes!

Like Margaret I didn't wear the silly top hat on St David's Day. I had a white cotton cap with a black bonnet on top. I'm so pleased that Margaret and I wore similar outfits for some reason. She's so lovely.

There is nothing as good as a good Welsh cake and nothing as bad as a bad one. So simple but fresh of the griddle, while still warm for a good Welsh cake you would sell your soul.

+ftumschk you know what your right i dont know why i said oven I think its because I was just making yorkshires I got a bake stone OMG sorry about that my mam would not be happy with me messing up on that one
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Jill Stewart Welshcakes are traditionally cooked on a very hot, flat "bakestone" on the hob. Hence the Welsh name for said cakes is "Pice ar y maen" (basically "cakes on the stone"). If you don't have a bakestone, then a thick-based frying pan is probably the next best thing.

Welshcakes are some of my absolute favorite food, though I have always had mine with a little powdered sugar on the top. Agreed about the burnt ones, those are best. :) ~Rourke

Oh yeah, powdered sugar is a definite route to go down, just not one that I personally grew up with. I'm glad that you agree about the burned ones!
