Just a slight correction. The championship was not a V8 championship at the
time of this accident. Only Willie Hepburn's Opel Rekord had a V8 engine at
the time. The rest of the cars were powered by an assortment of four, five
and six cylinder turbo engines, and Mazda rotaries.
