When your total earnings reach 25000g Demetrius will come by and tell you he has been doing research. He'll then give you the options if you want bats to ...
does anyone know how often are the fruits dropped? I check EVERY SINGLE DAY
and got like less than...I'd say 30 fruits so far ( end of Summer year 2),
and yes most of them are berries that I can find anywhere else. I've only
gotten 2 peaches, 1 cherry and 1 apricot, so it is such a disappointment.
My other character picked mushrooms, and it's helpful with money early on
since you can save up quite a few per season to sell.
Quick quote from a forum, if none of you know what to pick :
Looking back on it, I wish I had taken the Fruit Bats, and here's why:
1). You get LOTS of mushrooms in the mine and sometimes big red mushrooms
spawn on your farm. There are only 2-3 mushrooms needed for the CC.
2). Fruit Trees are crazy expensive, but if you take the mushrooms then you
will need to plant fruit trees to get the CC done
3). Trees take up a LOT of space on your farm. A total of 9 trees eats up
81 squares on your farm (the tree + 8 squares around it). There's 6 fruit
trees and then 3 natural trees that you will want to put a tapper on.
So, if I had done the fruit bats instead of the mushrooms, I would have
already had all of the fruit-related items on the CC done without spending
upwards of 30k gold to buy the saplings, and the mushrooms I would have
gotten by foraging in the mine/deep woods already.
So if you don't care about getting lots of mushrooms fast and you just want
to make sure you get the CC done, then fruit bats are the way to go. You
should get enough fruit that you can do cooking, making jelly, etc done
without needing to plant trees. Mushrooms are easily found in the later
floors of the mine, except for chanterelle and morel, but those can be
found while foraging anyways.
+Tudor Jinga I have to disagree. I have chosen both shrooms & bats on different playtrue's and the shrooms helped me big time ( getting 6 random shrooms every 3days or so helps allot considering the purple shroom heals your energy to full at that stage in the game). The bats on the other end, well...its nice to get a fruit of sorts 3 times /month, but most of the ones you get are the ones you can forage yourself.Even if you get lucky and gain a apple or something you wont really need it that much considering the buff to fruit trees and since you only need 6 items to finish the bundle. ( you will get 5 of those as bi products by then anyways, you just need 1 more from either one single cheap tree or from the pig gypsy).
+Swamp Fox You`re prrety much right. If you don`t pick the mushroom option, you can get chanterelles and morels from the Secret Woods, depeding on the season. Common mushrooms can also be found there. However, you could get those as autumn forage too. And the red and purple mushrooms can be rarely found in the "lava" levels of the mines. Blue mushrooms are found in the Skull Cavern more regularly, and if you are lucky, you can get "giant" red mushrooms randomly on your farm during fall and you can chop them down just like trees. So if you think about it, the fruit bats are quite a good option if you wanna skip the "fruit trees" thing and save money and space.
+Jackson Hawkins Depends I went with 5 preserve jars and 5 ish kegs. You go through ALOT of fruit and vegitables that way and everything used in jars and kegs pretty much tripple in value. So thr fruit bats helped alot. Also the exploit which allowed you to plant trees outside of the soil area in the green house is fixed. About time it got fixed because that was silly.
i picked mushrooms because you can get fruit from trees and the only way to get mushrooms from my knowledge is from the mines which can be deficult and tedious at times.
I'd say mushrooms, saying they're more expensive, consistent, and can complete a few bundles. It might be better to do fruit if you want to complete the community center, but once you get a greenhouse and some saplings (put trees on tiled part of greenhouse), you can get even more fruit that you would with the bats.
