I went to look at the spark plugs in the escort and was shocked to find the origional factory installed spark plugs from 1997! amazing the car even ran!
I think the only thing they kept up on was the oil changes, the oil looks
fairly good, but my next day off I'm going to change it. some old couple
had the car before the girl who sold it to me did. and I agree with you
about auto mechanics, it should be a required course to get your liscence!
I've seen grown men who don't even know how to change a spark plug let
alone what the purpose of a sparkplug is!
Like your Youtube sites. These spark plugs are similar to the RN9Y Champion
plugs I used in my 58 Chevy with a '61 409 racing engine. True antique
spark "plugs" are used in a Ford Model T engine. Those plugs are actually
3/4-14 NPT pipe thread, the same as a standard pipe plug. The Model A Ford
engine spark plugs are 7/8-18NF thread NPT = National pipe taper NF =
National fine thread.
be careful with the Autolite brand plugs! I just spent $129.99 to get mine
replaced because one blew out of the cylinder. I got new Motorcraft one's
installed and the car purs like a kitten. The tech wrote that i got a bad
set of Autolites! I currently own a 1992 Ford Escort 1.9L.193,364 miles on
the odometer! original engine! 20-25mpg!
Yea funny thing about car bulbs, they seem to last forever. My LTD still
has all it's original tail light bulbs. I read somewhere that in a lot of
cases, the bulbs can outlast the car itself. I wouldn't have thought the
headlights would last that long though. That's pretty cool!
Grickin rights i like to chnage my plug once or twice a fricken season like
8 times a year on my dirtbikes even more i used to go thorugh i set of
plugs on my rm a week let alone for 12 fricken years must have been a girl
driver XD JK lol but fricken rights thats saddddd
Oh my God.... I don't know if thats awesome or just sad lol I got spark
plugs about that old, they're the ones I took out of my LTD, but it's been
sitting dormant in for 5 years before I bought it.
I'm suprised the car didnt even miss or predetonate! Cool though that it
still have the original spark plugs, one of my weed whackers has its
original plug in it still, a Champion RCJ8
i think our 1977 GMC 6500 graintruck has 30 year old spark plugs in it and
it runs fine. but it only has around 30,000 miles on the clock so theyre
just getting broken in.
