Hey Spats I'm glad you brought that back. I love all your fan videos. I
also remember the one where Karlee (I think that's how it's spelled) was up
in the attic. Anyway, I'm sure you hope that I'm able to save that 1st
generation K-223 that I mentioned on your Fans video. we all know that all
older generation plastic-bladed Lakewoods will win against today's
Lakewoods but I would possibly like to see how badly your avacado 1st
generation Lakewood will beat your 2003 Dino Boy special Lakewood.
Oh and on that 225, or should I say that Andrewjarmans special, the reason
I think that it lasted as long as it did is probably because there was no
situation as of yet that caused those little circuit chips to crack. To
quote emersoncollie, "they do not put overloads in these fans no more they
put in those little circuit chips. And when they crack "that's it." Once
the fan gets overheated they don't come back on no more after that even
after they cool off."
Oh and if you did a matchup between those two fans (the vintage one and the
cheap Dino Boy one), the 1st generation will really show its power when
turned on last. The reason I'm saying this is because despite being plastic
bladed, these 1st generationhave that sound and I kinda think that when
matched up to a cheap fan they can probably sound really scary to that
cheap fan.
hey spats, awesome lakewood i like the thermo on top, and the sound is like
heaven, btw you shouldnt use motor oil it has detergents inn it, it will
break down all the old oil and make it sludge then it gets on the motor
bearings, which in turn eventually slow the fan down, use the blue 3 in 1
or zoomspout, theyre specially formulated for electric motors
Speaking of Andrewjarmans, he invited me to be friends with him on his
channel but I wasn't interested. Don't get me wrong I think he's all right
as a person, it's just that I'm not interested in the fans that he
collects. The ones that you guys collect (you, emersoncollie, erik92da,
metalanchor and others) are the ones that interest me.
+Spats Bear, How do I get to the bearings in order to put Royal Purple oil
(non detergent) in the fan motor? The reason why I am asking this question
is because I purchased the same K-Mart Deluxe (With Red 'K' on the logo)
off of eBay about 5 months ago and it said that the motor may require
oiling before putting the fan to use.
Although I don't have any Lakewood box fans, this fan you have has an
excellent quality and best of all, it's AMERICAN-MADE unlike those POS box
fans we have now. Btw, my Vintage SEARS 20-inch box fan has the thermostat
control too.
After the GE box fans from the 50s Lakewood fans are my favorite.
Especially this model with the thermostat and penthouse top! Nice, Nice
fan!! I posted my 1958 GE. Its all a metal a nice model too.
4:54 Lol I still laugh at that part of the video. "*gasps* Oh no way! No!
Way! Look what just popped out the bottom of the box! Oh! Oh! I got to take
the box apart holy crap!"
If I were hunting for one of these, what would a reasonable price be? I
found one, in great shape, very little spotty surface rust and with a metal
stand.
