If you let me know which of the two your uncle is, I will place a flower
beside his headstone a day or so before Remembrance Sunday. I imagine he is
William Edward as his date of death is given as 12th September, 1943. There
was extremely heavy fighting in and around Salerno between 9th September,
1943 and 19th September with 1,743 known and 107 unknown losses of ally
lives. His age, however, is given as 24. My thoughts are with you and your
family at this sad time. Sincerely, David Benbow
Hello there, Ray, I hope the video didn't cause you too much emotional
pain. I did most of my schooling in Birmingham; between 1957 and 1970 I
lived in Bordesley Green. Which part of the city are you from? Ray, I had
to visit a neighbouring town today and I went past the war cemetery. If you
send me an email address, I've got a few photos of your brother's
headstone. If you'd like them, get in touch and I'll send them off. Best
wishes, David

I can't thank you enough, I'm not able to visit his gave so it would mean
so much to me for you to place a flower on our behalf. We will never
forget. Thank you again so much, Peter.

later served, I'm 76 and remember him well, fortunately he fathered a son

I have allways wanted to see what the cemetery was like in Salerno, I all
most made a visit when I was in Sorrento, but everything went wrong, never
mind, now I can see what it looks like, my uncle is buried there
