the commissioner of police in western australia,o'callaghan(bypass wa if entering a police state is not your cup of tea)tried to vilify the victim of this torture with a litany of lies released by his media(he owns most of the media in wa).when the public displayed their disgust, he said that Mr Spratt wanted to leave it in his hands(spratt was tasered 42 times and beaten so badly he was in intensive care)so o'callaghan proceeded to promote the main torturer and cover up the vid for over 1 year.

didn't just get away with a fine.the main instigator shouting,'taser him again!' was subsequently promoted by western australia police commissioner,karl o'callaghan.in fact,the footage above was only released and acted on(with said token small fines as a pr exercise)was because a politician with an ounce of integrity,john quigley,sought out the footage 2 years later and it was released to the public. what karl o'callaghan did next was continue to attempt to vilify the victim publicly with lies.

@twiggy504 the copper who arrested him(for being aboriginal i suppose)has already admitted to falsifying evidence and the conviction overturned. he sat there as sedate as a tranquilized puppy. a 12 year old girl could have led him to a cell. 'day in court'? lmao, commissioner karl o'callaghan owns the courts in western australia.the ONLY reason why Spratt had his day was because a lawyer with a pair,mr quigley took the case.'follow the laws'?the police were the ones not following the 'laws'.

@twiggy504 they were at a police lockup facility, with cells (including padded), keys, locks, etc. every single one of these cops carry handcuffs. the cops are accountable to a duty of care for the charged person by legislation in force,not to mention his human rights. the charged person was sitting as quietly and sedately as a tranquilized kitten prior to 9 officers deciding to torture him. tasers were deployed with the strict instruction that they were NOT to be used as a compliance tool.

he was sitting sedately prior to being surrounded and tortured.from that point his reactions were completely normal.he wasn't striking out at anyone,he was reacting and crying out in extreme pain while the cops continued to reapply that pain.the sadistic intention of the cops is made explicitly clear when the main instigator repeatedly shouts,"do you want to go again?"the same cop was subsequently promoted by the most corrupt&malicious commissioner of police in wa history,karl o'callaghan.

extending on the before point though i believe that if a police officer wants to get physical then there should be no repercussion for a citizen if they are acting out of self defence, human rights gives you the ability to defend yourself against another human with equal or lesser force if you deem your life endangered, yet this right is violated by law officials simply in the sense that if they "say" they had probable cause that's all a court needs. where is innocent until proven guilty??

my view on police is this, if they aren't ready to cop a punch don't join the force, giving a coward a near lethal weapon like a taser will end up in police brutality, honestly if we have gotten to the point where our law enforcement breaks the laws to enforce the law how is that getting rid of crime, that's just proving who the bigger bully is. especially when there are non violent offenders being apprehended as though they had a fucking knife to the officers throat. stop the insanity.

@qommoq Yes I did mean staph thank you for picking up a spelling error. My point is still the same the reason that TASER was introduced into the use of force modle is to lessen the amount of physical contact with police. To reduce risk to both police and offender... if all nine police went in and used batons on the offender then that would surely cause more of an injury. Apart from the probes and maybe a little burn mark a TASER does not injury you it is pain compliance.
