Yeah ...it seems like my diagnosis has gotten worse over the years..at first I was diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder and then BPD, and then PTDS and panic attacks with agoraphobia, then it went on to become diagnosed with bipolar 1 then bipolar 1 with psychotic features, and now im diagnosed with schizoaffective bipolar spectrum disorder..but I can see where you both are coming from ...I always go back and forth wandering if I really do have mental illness or not..i guess I really haven't except the fact that I do...and other times Im certain that I do have it..when things start going wrong for me like having hallucinations and stuff.

some comments as a former psych nurse-- are any of your medication costs paid for by insurance or Medicaid ? IMHO Klonopin is longer acting and causes less dependency than Loraz. since you are doing ok on a smaller does, maybe your doc would consider changing you to that. Klono stays with you longer and is less intense in the first several hours. as others have suggested: your condition should remain stable as long as you stay on your combo. of medications. please do not stop any of them without a long consult with your prescriber.

Regarding Schizoaffective disorder, for me it's gotten better with the help of medication and good friends. Then again, I've only had this diagnosis since early 2014 and I seem to be doing very well. I'm sure I was schizo before 2014, but I'm less delusional for sure. Happier too :)

I think it depends from person to person, if you are stabile or not. im afraid it is a life long illness and you can't cure it. but you can learn how to cope and handle with the symptoms and live a better life

For me it has gotten more tolerable. If I'm home alone hallucinations don't bother me, being in crowds I sometimes can't figure out what is real or hallucinations & can cause some anxiety.

With treatment it gets better over time. Left untreated it will get worst. There are many things you can do to make it better.

Thanks for the update - all the best with your move - sounds like your daughter with schizoaffective disorder is doing well - I became very ill when I stopped taking clozapine (even when reducing it very, very slowly), I got hospitalised and it took me several years to recover from clozapine withdrawal symptoms.
