Growing Edible Plants : How to Grow Bell Pepper Plants
Bell peppers can be grown outside as soon as the weather gets warmer, and they will be ready to harvest in late fall. Plant bell pepper seeds in a raised garden ...
@minorshrimp No, your plants should be much smaller. Get out your bypass
pruners and nub that plant's main stem back down to about 8 inches tall.
Then trim any excess leaves so that the plant is no more than 6 inches
wide. Finally, if you make up a solution of about 2 tablespoons sodium
chloride in a half gallon of warm water, and then pour that all around the
base of the plant so it will be sure to soak the roots, you can be assured
that the plant will not regrow to such a height again.
@Ogizzie But she's an expert because she has a video on youtube. 99% of the
world's experts are simply run-of-the mill people who step forward and
promote their opinions. Hey, the lady never actually planted a pepper seed
that came up. But that doesn't keep her from being an expert. and 70
degrees at night? I would never grow a pepper if that was the rule. Glad
I'm my own expert so I don't have to listen to this miss know nothing.
I would give this "expert" a D- when it comes to "How to grow green
peppers". If you are not knowledgeable, you should NOT be posting videos
showing how lacking in knowledge you are. I live in Minnesota and if I
waited for 70 degrees, I wouldn't be eating peppers (which I've been doing
for weeks now) or still picking in October. Just because you read it
somewhere doesn't mean it right.
I think you said to plant seeds a couple inches deep?
I think you mean 1/4 inch deep for seeds.
When transplanting plants, I remove first 4 leaves & plant the plant deep,
so the next leaf is at ground level.
I do not prune my plants & they prods fruit for 5 months, I do wait till
the evening before the first frost to clean the of all fruit.
@waynebw They are the same family, basically the same plant, although
chillis and bell peppers have been cultivated away from one another, so
that the bells are sweet and do better in a milder climate. So, chillis are
better for hot supersunny weather, where bell peppers prefer the weather a
bit milder
"What is a bell pepper" would have been a better title. Actually pretty
poor advice. 1. Temps over 80 or so and the blossoms die - they like cooler
climates. 2. Keep them moist - (tomatoes you let dry out). 3. They don't
like lots of hot sun - some shade is good. 4. Fertilizer them regularly.
@buddybleau Yeah. That's exactly what I do. With peppers I just cover the
with enough soul to where you can't see it and I water it from the bottom
by using biodegradable peatpots and putting them in a something that will
hold water. I use old baking sheets. lol.
Honestly when people are looking for instructions videos this is not the
place. She provides NO good information! I'm sure she is a nice person and
a good gardener but more information is needed in order to please viewers.
@Ogizzie Sounds like you know what you're doing. I use old styrofoam coffee
cups for my seedlings. I punch a hole in the bottom of the cups and I also
set them in water. Good luck. Thanks for the comment.
could you tell me please why my yellow bell peppers are going black? Seems
like it's only black where the sun shines on it. Is it getting sun burnt?
because it says full sun position?
someone help! okay so i have a bell pepper plant and it started growing
green and today i noticed the sides are turning red..does this mean its a
red one?
Should i plant the seed directly after extracting it out the pepper or
should ill let it dry for some time? Im having a tough time germinating the
seeds!
