I cycled both Grand and Royal Canals during the summer a couple of days
apart. I rode each from Dublin Docks to the Shannon. Each took 10 to 11
hours straight, but the conditions were very favourable, and I would be an
extremely fit cyclist. Id imagine two or three days would be more
practical. Theres a bit of lifting bikes over fences that might trouble a 7
year old but otherwise its handy and occasionally sublime. I much preferred
it to the Royal. It would be a nightmare in the wet though.
how was the cycle? did you cycle the whole way from dublin to shannon? How
long did it take? I done the Royal canal way in July 2013, if you put The
Royal Canal Cycle Path 2013 into youtube you will be able to see it, my
year old daughter done it with us, do you think she would be able for the
Grand canal?
