Great speech!
Even if you don't agree with Senator Paul on everything, you have to admit
that he is serious about what he speaks about, especially criminal justice
reform. You could tell he was really heart broken about that young man who
ended up killing himself recently. Paul has been pursuing criminal justice
reform for years now. If he ever became president you can believe he'd do
something about it.
Rand Paul 2016!
+justanotherlikeyou Except he really did a hell of a twist on the story of Robert Lucas... According to Rand, he was jailed for putting "dirt" on his lands. And the actual story is that Lucas owned federally protected wetlands, and he was told that without federal permission he wouldn't be allowed to fill in those lands with pipes, soil or any other debris. He then had an engineer draw up plans and install water pipes for low/fixed-income housing and pact it down with soil. The pipes also didn't meet federal standards to prevent sewage from leaking into the water table. He also never told the people he was selling the properties to that it was wetlands, and when it flooded from heavy rains sewage would seep up from the grounds. And to top it all off, during a time while he was out on Bond, part of his bail condition was that he would stop selling the properties and he was arrested for breaking this condition. But, Rand just tells you the highlight of the case that he was "putting dirt on his own land" and skips over all the corruption, lies and scamming the old guy did.
