SophiasNaturals.com-Why I freeze my soaps to prevent gel phase..
Hello Everyone, I had a youtuber ask me a question about why I prevent gel and I thought that it would be cool to show it in a video. In this video I am showing ...
Hi, I had a question about how long to leave in the freezer, but I found
the answer below. You suggested 12 to 24 hours. Thank you for sharing. I am
always getting the circle in the middle of my soaps because of the gel
phase.
Hello, I recommend letting it freeze for 1 to 3 hours. Just long enough for it to become solid. If you leave it in for 12--24 hours you will have to let it un thaw a bit before cutting it.
I've never frozen my soap, yet. Does it affect the pH of the soap? Does the
lye cure out of the soap the same as cold process left at room temperature?
Does the bar harden the same or is it softer? Do you do a water reduction?
I do eight pound batches how long should it freeze? A day or two then sit
on the counter for another day?
Hi Donna, No it does not affect the ph level of the soap. Yes the lye cures out of the soap just like normal. Yes the bar does garden the same. No I do not do any water reductions. With 8 lb batches I would freeze anywhere from 1 hr to 3hrs depending on your freezer. Thank you for your questions and for watching. Erin
