+DMSProduktions lol I believe that the combination of a JB in the bridge and a '59 in the neck is one of the best. most versatile and flexible pickup duo ever. And they just sound so good. I can play a BB King tune, and then Metallica back to back on the same guitar, and they both would sound like the pickups were made for those tracks specifically. Not many pickups can do that.
Ok, yeah I mean that's WHAT I was told when I bought mine back in the 80's it was the 'Jeff Beck' model! Was made by the legendary JBJ too! It's got her little sticker on the bottom of it!Still got that pick-up, been in a few guitars!
+DMSProduktions It used to stand for Jeff Beck. When they ended their endorsement deal, Seymour changed it to Jazz/Blues. But to me it means Jeff Beck, because he designed it, and it is a killer pickup. The JM used to be John Milner, but when the endorsement ended, it became Jazz Model.
I have a fallout in a swamp ash transparent red. It really is an amazing
guitar. It wasn't my first choice of body style. But you know what they
say, you don't choose your guitar, it chooses you. This guitar is magic for
me.
Thanks for the helpful answer! That's exactly what I needed to know.Versatility and overal sound palette is what attracts me in this guitar the most.I also switched from Gibsons to fender-styled guitars at some point :) mostly due to comfort issues (contoured body and neck shape).Fallout, so far, looks like a good mix of both worlds to me - Leo's favorite vision of playability and, from Gibson side, power of humbucker and p-90, all in one guitar :)Thanks again for the helpful answer
+SamaZnajeshXto To my hand it feels a little thinner(width of the fret board) and a little deeper. It sits pretty thick in the palm, like a deep C. I've had to adjust how I use vibrato on the high and low e strings so they down roll off the edge of the fret. I was concerned about it, but I've read that most teles and strats will have the same problem if you're used to a bound Gibson style fret board (which I came from). My only other concern with the guitar was the the Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge position sounded kind of honky in the mids. When I raised it a little closer to the strings it kept a nice punch and the honkiness went away. All in all, it's the most versatile guitar I've ever played and it does all of it with plenty of character and flair.
+Danocaster Can you compare a neck profile on yours (I believe it's G&L Classic "C") to a standard modern stratocaster C-shape? Does Fallout have a thicker neck or is it about the same as Fender standard strat?
+Christian Boddum It is very well balanced. It doesn't tip towards the neck at all even though it's a pretty thin body (width, not thickness). The scalloped back makes it very comfortable whether sitting or standing.
