That's a fantastic looking mask. If I may ask, how did you manage to keep
the nose so smooth? Whenever I've tried to make anything that goes all the
way over the nose I always end up with large folds and creases.
If you can find one, those old do it yourself dried fruit and jerky food
driers would be a decent way to dry any mask that you want done overnight,
if it fits. Or make your own version of one that can fit the largest mask
dimensions you work with, and even large enough to cure multiple masks at a
time.
I don't know anything about vacuum molding, but have seen the process done.
cutting out the exact shape and form and getting it precise in a vacuum
mold would seem more difficult, but again I am unaware of how that process
works with leather.
I always wanted to know how to do leather masks, thank you for posting
these! You make it look easy though I'm sure I would spend a lot on leather
trying to figure it out. I'm really excited to see the rest!
i got this black buffalo leather hat where i want to fold the sides up, can
i also do that with this glue? or wouldnt you recomand it to do it like
that? grtz

HI PagenArtGuy. Thanks for the helpful info. I am planning on playing the
Phantom of the Opera in Berlin next summer at the drehorgel festival. Your
videos gave me the confidence to try to make a leather mask. I went to
Tandy bought enough leather for many different masks. I also bought 9
colors for my unused airbrush. The two questions I have are: I never saw
any answer to any tips for a Phantom mask and Where do you find a face
form? None found from San Franciso to San Jose. Darryl
@bossmrg Hmmmm...bear shape yes, but fur pattern? I would just impress the
leather with a faux hair indentation? that might work? or I would make the
leather mask and use Faux hair over the shape...
Question: what is your face form made out of and where did you get it?
thank you so much for sharing your information with us. it is really
appreciated!
