I built the circuit as shown in the video with a 2 meter long antenna, but only get an average of ~5mV DC (peak 9.1mV DC). While the video is too blurry to see the scale used on the VOM, the narrator talks about only getting a few volts. I would be happy with that as it is a significant difference from what I am getting. I even tried testing under the AC power lines in my back yard with no real difference. What's the presenter doing that I am not to give him an almost 800 X~1000 X better result?

Hmm ... this has completely missed the point. Tesla told us 'the earth rings like a bell'. Sound is just energy transmitted at a certain frequency. So in fact what he was saying is the earth itself is transmitting energy. Tesla's idea was to harness this energy and retransmit it to devices which harvest that energy in much the same way as a radio set collects frequency (energy) transmissions. This can still be achieved today if you can harmonise to the earths frequency called Schumann Resonance

We will eventually get free electricity if we work for it. The sun provides free energy, we just need to build some kind of generator to use this unlimited free energy. If you changed the capacitor sizes & put a pair of headphones at the end you will fine your getting your energy from local radio stations. This has nothing to do with Tesla, he stuck a wire into the air & noticed that static electricity gathers on a capacitor. You can do that now but there is not enough energy to be useful.

I bet you get almost no amps out of that thing, it would probably take days for your cell phone to charge off that circuit. And it's a little misleading showing a 120V socket implying you can hook up the 120V socket and run things off it, but with that kind of voltage you would be lucky to get a 5V USB device to charge.

Uh.... Yeah. I know what free means. I also know that the term 'free energy' is carelessly used and sloppily defined on YouTube videos. Not that it matters, because I didn't use the term at all or reference it in any way. All I said was, radio signals will light an LED, which you said could not be done.

This is a device commonly used to scam people. The blueprints are avaliable free somewhere, but per small tower it generates like 5 millionths of a watt, you would need a tower 3 milles high to even watch TV with it. Please, people, look shit up before you fall for scams like this.

That's not true. I make crystal radios as a hobby and I can light an LED with some of them. I have never tried to charge a battery. The power output may be small but it is real. If I had a transmitting tower on my street, I would try to make a battery charger.

I watched this video, and I'm left thinking that you'd be better off buying or building a solar panel, if you are going to collect ambient energy out of the air - there's a lot more solar power available than RF power, so you'd get far more bang for the buck.

when i make this circuit it doesn't hold a constant voltage all it does is shows is a steady decrease in voltage once i hook up my multimeter. more or less i have made an effective capacitor charger. am i hooking it up wrong?

It does not work very well, almost all, just some mV! I used a special high frequency diode with a gold-tipped Tesla. And no end point, disassemble, blow :-) experiments success. Rather go for a beer. :-)
