Thanks for posting this. We have just lost our only son at the age of 34
and during this time of sorrow, it's a great comfort to listen to it.
Again, thanks and God bless you richly.
+jim smith Thanks. The Lord has been a great source of strength since that time and we are confident that we will meet him again really soon when Jesus comes back to take his bride out of the world as per 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18.

Yes, there were a few bad priests out there. There will *always* be a few
now and then, because priests are human. Most of the offenders, however,
served in the 1960s to the 80s and have since died. Psychology and the
formation/education of priests was different back then. Men were accepted
into the priesthood who should not have been.
I can assure you the Catholic Church, at least here in the United States,
now takes great care to protect children from harm. From my application to
attend seminary, during all my years of study, and every year since my
ordination, I've been educated and have worked to protect children from
harm. The rules in place now for us clergy, and for all staff and
volunteers who work in our churches and on church property, *daily* affect
how we operate.
Having said all that, I will point out that studies from the John Jay
College of Criminal Justice and elsewhere indicate that Catholic clergy are
less likely to abuse than school teachers or the general population of men!
Yes, it's more scandalous when it involves clergy (hence the *abundant*
press coverage for every incident), and it's never excusable. But children
are safer in a Church than they are most places they spend their time, and
it's getting safer every day.
Oh, and the craftsmanship of your artwork is astounding. Very interesting
pieces.
I vaguely remember being an alter girl at the church I grew up in. I was
young and I've pretty much blocked out the time I spent in catholic school
as a preschooler. You'd think public school would be hard on a girl with
Aspergers, but it's nothing compared to the torture that the kids at that
catholic school put me through. But I do remember that altar boys and girls
did more than ring bells. We carried a tall crucifix and the wine and host
up and down the isles, we lit and put out candles. I know we did a lot of
cleaning up, like stocking the song books, keeping the back room clean,
other stuff I can't really remember. I do remember having to pour the wine
down a special sink cause it had to be disposed of in a certain way cause
it was blessed? Anyway. I don't consider myself catholic anymore, I guess
I'm agnostic. But I still have respect for religion of all kinds and
respect for a person's right to worship what they believe in, as long as it
doesn't cause harm to others. But I've spewed my mind a bit too much.
Regardless of all that late night brain puke, I love your stuff. You make
amazing things. I love the Auto Masochist machine. I'd definitely give it a
go. Lol.
