+Jimmy Nix You could also just vacumn them into the food saver bags, no need for the glass and you would have them safe and sound for years, with no potential of the glass jars breaking
For foods that are not dried goods like soup, jellies, jams, pickles,
etc... would theses still need to be boiled via pressure caner or could I
cook them in a pan, pour them in the jar, and use this to seal them instead
of having to boil the jar?
Very useful video, and I think I'm going to order one right now... but you
don't have to throw out the lids after a single use when canning. My
grandmother has canned with a pressure cooker every week for just about 80
years now (she's 93!) & has a drawer full of them. No idea how often she
uses them but they work fine until they're visibly warped then she tosses
'em, and I rarely see her toss one, and even more rarely see her have a jar
that doesn't seal properly.

I actually been lucky and gotten seeds to grow seven years old from the
packaged seeds, though that is very lucky. It depends on how well you dry
them and limit their exposure to light and moisture. Keeping them cool is
also a big help. Though, also depends on the seeds. Peanuts, for example,
have a short shelf life because of the oils in them while a pea can last a
while being carbs. I am still learning the basics on heirloom seed saving
as I am planning to get some rarer seeds like blue corn.
The way I see it: Troys channel is part of my entertainment and very
informative. Putting up videos 6 days a week with a total about 1.5 - 2
hours per week, thats a lot. Imagine HBO would go and offer your favorite
show for free, if you like it you can donate? People would be more than
excited. On top of that: If you really hate it, there is the unsuscribe
button ( not that I want to encourage anybody to do so :-). As of right now
YouTube is free to choose what you like. Take advantage of that
@bradley kyle I see you whining and complaining and posting negative BS on
all of Troy's videos. This is Troy's channel, if you don't like the videos
he makes, don't watch them. He teaches and entertains with his videos and
his fans appreciate and like them and sometimes send him things to help him
out...there's nothing wrong with that at all. You have no right to be
making demands of him like a spoiled child. I know Troy is too kind to say
this to you but I hope he doesn't mind me saying it.
I understand your frustration Bradley Kyle. But the truth is Troy has
dozens of things on the go at the same time and I would do things
differently but that is me. This is Troy's journey and he will do it his
way. By starting this channel I have no doubt Troy intends to help people
to the best of his ability. He does receive free stuff and that is a bonus.
He readily admits he does not have all the answers and many good people
offer advice to him. If you want specific answers, just ask him.
I'm with Bradley Kyle! We are losing real men who can survive no matter
what happens! Our ancestor's came here and cut out land to make home come
rain or snow. They made do with what they had and worked their land to buy
what they needed to live. If a real collapse happened Troy would not make
it through one winter without someone else there to give him what he would
need to survive. His channel is not promoted for entertainment alone it is
for living off the grid! He'd not doing that.
Great value there Troy. As a seed company in Australia myself I can assure
you those prices are excellent. To answer ElgatoLoco698 question on how
long seeds will last. The secret for saving seeds for very long periods is
simply to have them stored in a cool dark place away from any moisture.
Vacuum packing then is ideal. Seeds will last many, many years and the only
thing that will happen is the germination rate will be lower as time goes
by. Looks a good product at a good price.
Their is an old saying Bradley that goes like this. A problem is a solution
waiting to be found. And it is far better to be part of the solution than
being part of the problem. I have seen many of your comments and can see
you are seeking knowledge and that is a good thing. But venting your
frustrating that you are not getting what you want is not going to resolve
anything. Knowledge is like patience they both involve the ability to
accept good things come to those who wait. Allan
I need to order myself some seeds, though probably not the vaults. I am
looking into more nutrient rich seeds like blue corn to store and grow so I
might improve the health of my family and me. Though, blue corn is really
hard and hence a corn meal type. It has a LOT more nutrition than the white
and yellow corn in the stores. Though, dandelions also have more nutrients
than both lettuce and spinach combined. We bred out the nutrition over the
years to what is now in the markets.
i got a seed's in a sealed steel can i got from ebay & i been looking at a
single barrel aquaponic system how to make the system a food growing system
that moveable! it has fish and a pump and filter and grow part too! i think
it grow enough for one person i hope i am sorry the landlord had me get rid
of part of my wood it was next to shed and i had to paint my shed and
step's i figured paint all at about the same time! i had to seal shed and
level it more too !
watch his first videos. .he had a goal on his own to teach us
something...without asking for donations and free stuff. he can work and
show us how to live of the grid when the shtf...but now its turned into a
charity case. he doesn't have a job like most of us do... and basically the
only thing its turned into is just how to get free s***. if he was a
trooper he would learn how to prep and get a real job so when s*** does hit
the fan he would be ready.
All of us do the best we can.. a negative attitude will not help your
situation.. just be happy with what you are doing and do what you can. I
can't afford a whole jar of seeds at one time, but I can buy one good sized
package monthly and then I toss them in my freezer. Try Sustainable Seed
Company, they have loads of seeds.. heirloom, Non GMO, Organic etc..God
knows your heart and your needs.. just do what you can and be happy!
