The shows are very difficult to run. Dealing with hundreds of fish requires lots of volunteers, organization, and long hours. We are one of the few clubs that even puts out videos of our shows, and only because we have enough people to dedicate one person to filming. We film every auction fish and play the video during the bidding so that the audience can see an accurate representation of the fish, in addition to taking photographs of all the winners, which takes a long time. That said, it is possible to figure out the classes that each of these fish won by consulting the International Betta Congress class list. Each class is distinguished by sex, fin type, and color. Each class receives a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Then the first place fish are pulled and are grouped by variety, which is determined by fin type. For example, a Best of Variety Shortfin male is the best out of all the shortfin first placed winners. These BOVs then go on to Best of Show. If you would like to learn more, I highly encourage you to join the International Betta Congress and consult the official judging manual, which describes in great detail how the show is run and how the fish are judged.
