Wow! They did such a fabulous job with this house! I love it! I would like
to know where they put the bathroom as they said they'd removed the small
bathroom near the kitchen.
+Bobette Bryan I found a photo of the bathroom here. It looks like it's off the kitchen.//www.styleathome.com/homes/interiors/interior-cheerful-contemporary-family-home/a/51026/8
The place looks like it's staged for a TV show or an interior decorator's
magazine ad. Except for the dog, there's no sign of life and it looks like
no life is permitted.
+46619TAB esp with kids!!!!!!!!!!!!! that was definitely before the kids got there, bc there is no way a 4, 6, and -- what was it -- 8 yr old could keep the house so pristine. there's just no way.and if you look out her balcony, it just looks like shit, and she had this nice ass house. doesn't make sense. where i live, that's inviting ppl to steel your shit. there's just too much inconsistencies. i don't buy it.
I thought so too! Kids definitely don't live there, or they JUST finished renovations.. Museum-like...
Flip House - Before and After Renovations

lol well just think. We have subfloors for a reason. The finish floor should not stand alone. If it ever weakens you could fall right through to the basement. 2 is better then 1 :) Check out some more videos you'll see what I mean.
+summer fields Well the 3/4" plywood subfloor would allow the hardwood floor planks to rest on top. The planks are the finished floor and should not serve as a subfloor. They might have problems down the line when that finish floor sags between the joist due to various weight and traffic
+summer fields I agree...but some builders are known for "cutting corner" when nobody is looking. In this case I think they was just saving money on plywood. I'd have to view the video again because I'm wondering how they would have installed partition walls running parallel with the floor joists without a subfloor
Yeah, I don't get it either but the house sure looks well done and like they put so much time, effort, money and talent into it, so how could they not do that right?
+summer fields Well from my understanding a 3/4 subfloor of any kind would create the necessary strength need for a floor. I don't think what they did is legal.

Hey Whitney if u had been a artist u just finished ur masterpiece !! What
eye for design !! Looks beautiful may I ask the wainscot are they panels or
custom done with trim ? Thank u
+James Showe Sorry James, somehow missed this-- thanks for the comment! The wainscot in the bathrooms is PVC panels from Home Depot. The shadow boxes throughout the rest of downstairs and hall are custom done with trim.
We just purchased our first home (1918 colonial) that needs to be fully
renovated. Your video was extremely helpful and has given us great ideas
for our home. May I ask if you kept the original hardwood floors and had
them refinished, or did you replace them? Also, were there any websites or
online stores that you found useful during your research? Thank you for
sharing this video of your beautiful home!
Wow thank you for all the info! The original wood floors in our house are still in good condition, so we're thinking of having them refinished as well. What was the stain that you used for the floors? We love the color!
+Tina H. Happy to hear it! We had the original floors refinished, plus extended the wood a few places it was not before, e.g. kitchen (side note, we've had no problems with wood in there-- just need to get spills wiped up quickly, but we would do that anyway!). Houzz is great for ideas and we used Pintrest so we could both save ideas we found (see our boards here: https://www.pinterest.com/whitney05012010/). Sources we used a lot were HomeDecorators, Wayfair, RestorationHardware, LightingDirect, FaucetWarehouse, StevesBlinds, RugsUSA, HomeDepot, and of course Amazon. Be sure to sign up for Ebates as well, we saved hundreds during the reno since 1-6% off purchases can add up! Also try buying gift cards at a discount (GiftCardGranny.com is a good aggregator) to save another 5-10% depending on the store.
I think you needed another color to bring warmth into a few areas. In
combination with the lack of personal items, it felt more than a little
cold, although beautifully done.
Agree, we need to post an update since we have since gotten many bright pieces up on the walls!
