When it said 'origin' in the question, I assumed it meant the particle's origin (so, when t=0). Which caused a lot of confusion and mental ache. Thank you for posting this. It is so very very useful.

In B, why don't you divide the ans by 9.8 as it's weight?

W was the weight in the first place. If they wanted the mass then I would divide by 9.8 since W=mg

It is away from the particle so as to support it moving right and down
