Hi Doc, am in the uk. Had a PT tear 5 years ago, not treated timely but
have had injections and physio to no avail, ended up last week having the
tendon transferred and a calcaneous shift performed, it is now in plaster
and very painful, I have a plate and screws , is there any advice you can
give on helping it to heal please. Thanks so much sir.
Kim.
+Scott KilbergThanks. I will of course do that. I just wondered if there was anything specific I should do to speed the healing or how it is treated there. Here, I had the Op last week a cast was put on,I won't see anyone until next week when the cast comes off and the staples removed and possibly cast back on for another 2-4 weeks.nothing else. thanks Kim.
Hi Doc. I was born with flat feet almost 60 years ago. Have been very
active my entire life but the past year I believe my posterior tibialis is
definately inflamed and is hindering my walking. My flat feet are pronated
and I have worn orthotics for decades. I recently got a new pair from an
orthopedic podiatrist. The worst pain is in the morning after I have not
walked on my feet for a while. Any suggestions?
See your foot specialist again as he/she should be initiating active treatment. If it is the posterior tibial tendon, self-treatment is often unsuccessful.
Hi Doctor,
I am a hockey referee and in recent games I have found some intense pain on
the inside of my foot/ankle (what seems to be this area of the foot you are
discussing). It does not pain me to walk, run, or do everyday things but
seemingly only when I am skating and the skate is putting pressure on that
area of my foot/ankle. When I apply pressure myself with my fingers, it
also causes pain. I am wondering if perhaps this PTTD is what I am
experiencing and if so, what can I do for treatment?
Thanks for your time.
You are better off having a podiatrist evaluate the foot, as there are a few structures in the inner side of the foot/ankle that can become irritated by a skate.
Hey doc. Please reply to this ASAP. So I skateboard and I do tricks on
mostly parking lot surfaces. I have been skating for two years now and
skate almost every day, and a little over 6 months I noticed a slight pain
when I walk but I said nothing of it only because it went away after 12
hours or so. But now I'm on the hockey team in my school and after intense
practice. That same exact pain came back. I'm not specialist, I'm just some
sixteen year old kid but I did my reaserch and I bet this is it. This week
I had hockey practice and then the following day I went to the park to play
basketball for 3 hours and the pain is very bad occasionally as in I walk
up and down stairs slow and steps hurt. But this only last like 24 hours.
The pain is gone now, but I bet this is it. Please reply and just tell me
what u would do. Ik this is the one. I get pains deep in my ankle in that
exact area. Thnnx doc
dear jen!!
i'm very excited to write this.
i've been injured very badly 4 years ago and got my unpleasant gift- a
complete drop foot,just like yours.
today i'm almost 3 months post op,exactly same op as you,and this week i
went to work the first time, with no brace!!!!!
great job filming and taking those pics.
now i'm appreciate walking like no one is,i'm sure you too.
much success and lots of love.
yakir.
+Jen Hindley Hey Jen, so it's been 3.5 months, I went swimming yesterday, and I'm back on the rock climbing wall. My foot is still strange though, can you make an update video of where you are now?
thanks a lot for this video. am a foot drop patient . Just completed nerve
graft surgey a month ago(may or may not be a success ). Faaling so much
happy to see this video , and it gives me a confidence that i can walk
normally again .
Oh you had a nerve graft done then. I had one done 8 years ago. Stick with the physio and work hard at home, especially in a warm bath!! Spend the money to see an Osteopath and a registered massage therapist. This will ensure a BETTER outcome.
+Colin Keaney Hi, its 12 weeks now (post -OP) . As per my docror nerve will grow at the rate of 1mm/day, so have to wait minimum 200 more days for any positive change . hoping for the best :) . all the best, wishing a quick recovery for both of us
Thank you for the video. Very happy to see your full recovery. How are you
feeling now after few years?
We are planning for very similar procedure for my 10 year old and I am very
worried going in. Your video was definitely comforting and giving us hope.
Can you tell us where is Dr. Gitlin is located.
I'm doing very well. I get occasional flares of plantar fasciitis in that foot because the anatomy is a bit thrown off from years of walking improperly, but other than that, things are great. I am actually in the midst of producing a 2.0 version of this video with an update on my progress nearly 2 years post op
hi.i've been through the exact same op 3 months ago,and happy to tell you it's worked!

+Conner Ashford (Texas93) This is much worse than plantar fasciitis because there's a cure for plantar fasciitis. Do a a search for scandanavian plantar fasciitis cure and you'll find a set of exercises involving heel raises and lifted toes which can cure plantar fasciitis.
+Conner Ashford yeah, should of listen when my sports medicine teacher said tendons (and ligaments) takes a surprising long time to heal. luckly I was trainning on the bikes to at least keep the cardiovascular system and upper leg muscles fit while not putting much tension into the lower legs and ankles.

+Mrwhomeyou I feel your pain man when I posted that comment I was very frustrated. But I was told by a podiatrist I had plantar fasciitis and it turned out to be a small tear in my posterior tibia. I injured it running in 2013 and still have pain to this day. It fucking sucks. I've been trying to go into the military and its totally halted my dreams.
+Conner Ashford this injury is messing up my form so now my knee is getting too much tension and the simple act of running is imposible, already stop running for 3 month now... ...and xc season starts in 3 month
