In my opinion a little to long. maybe this big one splitted into two or
probably three to four parts would be easier to remember all the things. i
havent finished the video yet but my motivation to watch 40 minutes on a
black board with so much words on it isnt that high. like in school ;)
just a suggestion on my side.
but you do great work with your guides. it helps me a lot and i suppose
much other players too.
keep it up (y)
Will do, will do. I agree that especially the first two are too long - but well, first time ever making a video, gotta learn the ropes :) I'm trying to break the videos down more and more as I go. It's pretty difficult for me as I... well, usually can't stop myself when I'm talking about something. I'll try to keep the next one somewhat short, probably on heart attacks as soon as the current build (finally) hits stable.
I believe (from my experiences) that you only maintain "Healthy" while
being dehydrated occurs after the fact that you were initially fully
hydrated in order to achieve "healthy" status.
It may not affect your health if you become dehydrated (perhaps only blood
is affected initially) so you will not lose your "Healthy" status which
very well may be independent once you have full health.
Well observed! I talk about this in my newer video DayZ Guide Updated: Blood and Health Regeneration demystified
I'm confident that this is going to be fixed at some point in the future.
I'm getting really tired of all the games worshiping the estimated value
method. Like when you acquire an item and it "increases whatever". okay,
all well and good, but by how much?
same with the blood level. Concrete numbers or at leas a bar are better
than this screen reddening bullshit. you can't even gauge how hard certain
things hit with it, and it makes the whole game into an uncertain mess. If
you're about to collapse, you know you are - but with this indirect fade
thing you have no clue. Programmers seem to forget that you need to have
indicators to replace your ability to feel - having health bars is more
realistic than not having them.
Also on the blood even if it may not be the most realistic system it adds a nice reliance on other people, which is nice to help stop people from killing everyone they see.
If you're suffering from substantial blood loss you truly can not give yourself a transfusion, you would be too weak and too lathargic. Also you don't get a health bar in real life, all you can "guage" is "I'm full" "I'm hydrated" "I'm energized" and you will never get a number on that, all you have is your gut instinct.
you know I used to think about creating something like that back in middle school...A sort of gaming machine where you feel everything in the gameI'm pretty sure there's a prototype out there somewhere
+Nosneb20 I do play minecraft. Sadly it lacks a lot of things that dayz has. my point is that I want developers to either make their games have the same level of feedback you do in real life or stop touting about realism.
also the dependency on someone else to give you a transfusion is absurd - anybody who can't bear to stick a needle in their arm would already be dead. Game makers need to decide to respect the gamers and alter their vision of the game, rather than doing what they want without listening at all to the players. remember the outrage when the initial debug monitor was removed?
I am not trying to sound like an arse here at all, being of German descent
myself. But this guys accent sounds like every villain from James Bond
films ever... :3 Oh and also, thanks for the upload, very helpful!
+Merino DayZ haha Vell Herr Doktor, zat is mad in itz own vay ja :3Nah jokes aside, thanks for the upload, was quite helpful indeed and appreciate the fact you used yourself as a guinea pig to more or less verify these systems. Also out of curiosity, did you ever experiment with force-feeding and the various amounts of damage certain items can cause ? If so I would love to know what would be good to poison someone without really killing them, let's just say... I have some scores to settle that deserve maiming but not quite death :P
Oddly enoug, whenever I try to intensify my German accent for shits and giggles, I start to sound russian. I just can't do it on purpose but I suppose I should be glad it's still so dominant when I try not to do it :P I do actually enjoy the stereotype of Ze Mad Doktor although I have not injured anyone while doing my research but myself so far...
