WiFi - good reception, easy to connect, you can sync with your PC wirelessly when at home, streaming music with Pass is great, buying music with pass is great, typing is pretty easy - you scroll through the letters, it all works well. The only thing about WiFi is that it wont work with networks that have any type of Websense or any other web sensorer stuff. McDonalds offers free Zune WiFi, your home network will work fine, etc. You can type in passwords for WiFi easily. School = maybe wont.

Well you can download the free Zune Desktop Software and play around with that. It's really slick looking software, pretty fun to use. Also, you should definitely get the Zune Pass. It's $15 for unlimited music. Almost all of the songs in their marketplace are available for download. It's a great experience when you see the price buttons switch to "Download" when you sign in. Plus, you can get unlimited music on your Zune with WiFi if you have the Pass. (Continued in another Comment)

If you have friends with the Zune, you can subscribe to and listen to all of their most played songs with the Pass. Finally, on the Software, you can subscribe to Channels, which range from personallized automated Rock Picks for you to Jogging Channels that have music cordinated to the running beat. You can get all of that with your Zune Pass, so look into it. Also you get to keep, forever, 10 songs a month. Look into the Zune Pass and check out the Software. Enjoy ur new Zune!!

Well I originally bought the Zune 30 (White) but when the Zune 80's came out, I instantly bought one of them, a black one (the red's look really nice). So now, my dad uses the Zune 30 and I have the 80. Btw - with the Zune Pass, you can share it with three people, so u can split the cost with ur friends, just have one pay for it with his credit card, and then the other two give him $5 a month. You pay for the Pass with Credit Card for sure. I think you might be able to pick up the cards at Best Buy. Yea there's a Redeem Points option on My Account page with the Zune where you can enter in a code for redeeming a Zune Pass subscription. So you should be able to pick up those cards at Best Buy. Or just use your parent's credit card and get them into downloading music so that they use it too and they don't charge you, :)

Bluetooth. Will Zune ever have it? Seeing as it already has wi-fi, it's probably not a high priority but it would be really nice for those car head units with bluetooth connectivity and cell phones. I've read about some mods you can do for using bluetooth with Zune's but a lot of them look sketchy/ugly/cumbersome. I just can't make up my mind on which PMP i want to get. Zune's are pretty sexy.

Sweet! u download the zune software yet? it's free, so you might as well get it set up first and have a little fun with it until u get ur Zune. BTW, find someone else with a zune and play them wirelessly in Texas Hold'em!!!!

lol you can. when i scroll i just lightly drag my finger across barely touching it. it is even speed sensitive. if you want to go back a menu then you just move over it twice. I don't know what you are talking about.

zune needs an accelerometer just like the new iPods it would be perfect for album flow and the touch pad!!! it would be awesome and the pictures could go sideways too for better viewing on the smaller ones!

Well if your thinking of either iPod or Zune, go with Zune. iPod Classic is completely dominated by Zune, and iPod touch is possibly as good as Zune, even though it's in a whole different price range.

it is the actual "zune 3". and the firmware 3. the new zunes don't really have anything different, just more storage. The firmware is what makes the difference.

u dont need an accelerometer for that. The Zune already puts pictures sideways, and cover flow is useless. The accelerometer would only be good for gaming.

All I'm saying that there's a slight difference between the two players and their software. I checked it out on Wikipedia. I also checked the Zune3.0 website and it won't play anything from Itunes or my Ipod because of the Digital Rights Management Rule. To be honest with you, I wish they did. And besides, it doesn't matter what kind of music comes out of which player. Good music is good music. I know this debate will continue so I've got nothing more to say. Goodbye!

First of all. Microsoft made the new Zune 3.0 which kicks ***, and has crazy new features in it. I'm glad they were focusing on that one, cuz they did a pretty dang good job if you ask me. As for the Classic, the new one is exactly the same except for some minor tweaks, and making it look better. For exactly the same price, the Zune is a better choice, especially for videos. Btw, I have a Classic, cuz my friends said it was good...they lied.

it's way less incompatible with a lot of things, whereas the ipod runs on any system. And the Zune has tons of fineprint, like the networking thing only works if the other person has a Zune, and then you can listen to a song for something like 3 times, then you either have to buy it, or get rid of it. You can't upload things from napster, itunes, etc... Oh and you can't convert videos for ipod with this thing called handbrake...

I use a charger, av cables, audio cables( MP3 files) to play the Ipod through both the stereo and/or tv. If you want to do the same with the Zune go to electronics store and see if they have something like the ones I mentioned(preferably, Best Buy or Radio Shack.) This coming from your "Ipod using" counterpart. For the record, I have nothing against Zune users and that's why I'm helping you. Just check it out.

AV kit. Good answer, but it doesn't matter. I can enjoy my music anytime I want, and music videos for that matter. Still, I got a better deal with Itunes than I would on a Zune software. Not only Zune won't play anything from Itunes and an Ipod, but in order to get the songs you have to buy points to get the songs you want. And the subscriptions, who wants that? Not me.

dog? you must not know what your talking about. my zune will play songs from itunes. and you dont have to buy songs just to put them on the zune my zune software detects all my music in my music folder and will let me put them on at any time with no charge. you obviously dont know anything about the software and how it works? cause all of what you sayed is all false.

ipod users seem oblivious to the fact the zune IS better in some ways. They just don't admit it. The first time my friend saw my zune he said " dang that things massive" ITS NOT THAT BIG. It's fine in my pocket. I hate that about my ipod using friends. They all use it because it's "popular" and " no one has zunes" But I don't care...I luv my zune :)

I prefer Zune. I've had both an ipod and a zune before. And I just like the design of the Zune and the way u can customize the background. My ipod stopped working so i punched it, hit it on a desk a few times then threw it at my bed and it bounced off and hit the floor. U can clearly see which i think is the better choice.

I got a question for Zune users. I have device that not only charges the Ipod with an adapter and plays MP3's through a stereo, but plays videos through a TV set. Can your Zune do that? Or to be more precise, do you have a device that can help your Zune play video files through a TV set? Let me know.

People apparently have never heard of DRM removing softwware, for those who complain about being unable to add songs from Itunes to Zunes. People also think iTunes has more selections and thus makes it better than Zune. I buy my music from emusic, which sells 30 songs for 10 bucks and has no DRM

on my stereo with a cable i got it will play songs from my zune. With the tv playing videos thats a good question have a other cable i havn't tried to see if it would work but since i got a xbox360 it lets me play my videos on the tv from my zune.

You can transfer music and some other things off the ipod via iTunes. However, it will only get itunes purchases. For the rest, set your ipod up with disk use enable a get a free program, I recommend Senuti because it is not limited to just your itunes purchases. I hope this helped.

I really like the concept of zune, the whole file sharing, the personalization (which I'm all about...and ipod isn't) and the radio function is cool too. The one problem I have with ipods (I have one, by the way) is that once you put your music on it you can't put it back onto your computer. So let's say your music gets deleted on your pc or mac and you want it back. too bad. and that really fucking pisses me off...can you get music back from zune?

Great review. I liked it. I own a Zune, and I understand how you feel. But I've got some questions. How do you get a 10:36 video? I thought there was a 10 min limit. Can you give me the exact link to that zmeta thing? I can't find it. Oh, and are you the same guy, with that video and you were borrowing your friend's ipod, and he got mad when he saw you with it, and y'all argued a lot about which was better? Dude all you gotta do if you havn't gotten the crack to allow those other formats to sync is use your Windows Movie Maker that comes with most XP and Vista editions. It's located in your Accessories folder and all you gotta do is add the video file to the movie (uncheck create clips) and then just save it. Make sure its 320x240 so you dont have to do any converting. It will now be a .wmv.

Ok I have a question. I am duel booting Ubuntu and windows XP. But I use Linux as my primary operation system and it has all my music and videos on it. So I am wondering if the Zune uses a drag and drop interface when putting music on it. So then I can delete the music off of XP but when I plug in the Zune it won't try to auto update it and remove the music off my Zune.

Pretty much if it doesnt have Copy Protection on it. I know Bearshare files wont work on any mp3 player. The files are coded so they only work with their program. Not sure why they did that but whatever. There might be more. iTunes files might work now since i think they got rid of their DRM but im not sure.

Yea, Im the same guy with the other video. I used to have another Youtube account but it got suspended for dumb reasons... The videos were linked... I forgot to link them again. Zunescene dot com should have Zmeta just search for it on there & YouTube allows up to 10:38 sec, they just dont tell you. lol

Not sure if it is now. I heard somewhere that recently Apple was getting rid of their copy protection on the .aac files so you could put them on any device and in any music playing software but I'm not for sure on that. Maybe. If its not purchased through from their store however then it will work.

I've had my Zune for a year now almost and I have yet to notice a decrease in battery life. Shutting down the player shouldnt cause any problem for the battery. The only thing that will screw up L-ion batteries is leaving them with a low charge all the time or temperatures.

Yea, Zune's software gives you the feature of transferring music back onto your hard drive from the Zune Hard Drive. The problem with the Apple Ipod is that they are formatted in Mac so Windows is unable to read them correctly to transfer music off.

You have to use the software to put music into the zune but you can use music you got from Limewire. Just add the files to the Zune Program and sync um, it's that easy.

Yes, yes there are but it's still in beta. You can find out how to put them on through internet forums. The final version will be released around Christmas.

@JuliaUgr Umm I'm not sure, I haven't played PS Home for a long time, sorry. I think they were planning on adding the ability to play your own music from virtual speakers in your virtual house, but I'm not sure if they ever put that into Home yet.
