This bar was built utilizing pallets, scrap lumber and used doors. The only brand new purchases were two sheets of plywood and screws. And I misspelled ...
thats one hell of a bar u built there - I'm building a bar in my basement
too but with a bigger budget - though every penny saved is money well spent
on the decor and fridges ... and paint ... and beer for my slav.. uhh
friends who are 'voluntarily' working for me
anyways thanks for the inspiration man
+Yannick Gleichauf No problem I really didn't have a budget in mind when I built this one. I just wanted to see how much I could get away with not spending while still building something nice. I know you are going to enjoy it when it's finished. It's always nice to have a place at home to entertain guests without the hefty bar prices.
+undertaker666dead I found them at a placed called Habitat for Humanity Restore. Pretty much it is an organization that keeps usable material from demolition jobs or unused construction material and re-sells it. Kind of like the goodwill / salvation army of lumber, counter tops, sinks etc.
+undertaker666dead Absolutely. Patience is the key. It certainly isn't a short weekend project unless you end up getting lucky, It took some work finding the materials to build this. I spent almost an entire day searching for the perfect bar top until I found those doors and it all just came together.
+Legendary M.C. El Bee Boatright / woods I'm glad you enjoyed it. This can definitely take longer than going out and just buying the materials from you local lumber yard and hardware store. But to me it was well worth it because the challenge of finding the materials was just as fun as the build itself.Good luck!
+ElectricEyebrows Actually I only had gatherings on Holidays and the bar functioned on tips and donations. I didn't spend very much out of pocket for each party. All of that booze you see behind the bar doesn't include the beer in the fridge as well as 3 fridges underneath. The majority of it was either donated or purchased with money from tips.
