Wilson is a fine performer overall, but his singing sometimes tends to be thin and nasal, especially on the EE vowel. At other times, his sound is much fuller and richer.

When "A Gifted Man" started, I always thought the title of the show was a partly a pun on Patrick Wilson, who is as you say is a gifted man. He is one of the best tenors I've every heard. My eyes tear up when I watch this video. I saw him first on "Phantom of the Opera" and heard or read somewhere that he got the part of Curly right after the director heard him sing this song.
