This is a great discussion but it should be addressed after the social
aspects of having children are solved.
There are mothers who would exploit this like they do in other countries.
+nightlightabcd knowing the state is there to support the mother and the father being an income source. very challenging issues that only the mothers who abuse the system can overcome. folks that dont participate in that kind of scandalous action cannot even attempt to participate in a fix.
+LanceFlugerman - What social aspect of having children are you referring to?

this is the law in Denmark!.
Right to leave for 52 weeks maternity benefits
All pregnant women are entitled to four weeks before the birth and then 14
weeks. Fathers are entitled to two weeks of paternity leave, which they
must keep during the first 14 weeks after birth. In these a total of 20
weeks, the parents receive maternity benefits.
After the first 14 weeks, each parent is entitled to take parental leave
for up to 32 weeks. They are jointly entitled to benefits for 32 weeks.
Fathers can start the leave within the first 14 weeks after birth.
" Companies offering more parental leave "
Greece was offering parental leave and other such workers benefits just
prior to their collapse. And still they can't figure out why spending more
money than a government has lead to that. So what do they do? Same thing as
American liberals. Blame the banks and rich people.
A new law may soon make San Francisco the first U.S. city to mandate fully paid parental leave and require employers to pay benefits that far exceed the ones ...
Forcing companies to subsidize your breeding is ridiculous. Forcing people
who decide not to have children to work harder and get less money ( money
going to paid maternity leave) is ridiculous.
People want to have it all. A career and children. Yet you have a whole
generation of kids who come home to a empty house or stay with strangers.
So kids get into trouble and you breeders want big government to make the
world child proof.
Its a horrible cycle of zero tolerance and regulation just because you want
material things over your children, and yet want children.
+Chaoteee No. Your line of thought is selfish. If you have business than probably you don't do all job. You hire people. But guess where these people come from? Yes, they were born to the "breeders". And "breeders" financially supported their offspring to become able to work. So, with your logic, rich people should have a lot of children, since they can afford them. But they don't. They have just 2 or 3 of them. But their children would probably inherit their parents businesses and not going to work for others businesses. From where than, you think, workers will emerge? Immigrants from Mexico and other "breeders"? But you don't want them (yet, you use them to work for you).It cost money to bring up toddler to worker. And who will financially pay that? Breeders themselves? Or maybe those who can afford them - rich people? Not just that. Workers themselves are consumers. Without consumers, no business.I'm so sorry to tell you, that you are so selfishly blinded, that you don't see bigger picture of how businesses are dependant from people who work for them and plus consume their products.Picture become even bigger when you see other aspects of life than just business. But that would be probably to much of vision for your narrow observation.
+Chaoteee If you don't understand my logical argument that's your problem not mine. Without people choosing to have children there would be no one to take care of you. My kid might be the next hitler as you pointed out or the next doctor you don't know which. If society as a whole helps raise the child it is more likely that the child will grown up smart, strong, and moral. If society turns it's back on the children and no one protects and supports them all they children will know is how to fend for themselves and a lot worse than hitler or stalin will be created. It is in the best interest of society that children are protected and educated. And unless you have sterilized yourself you can not say that you will never have children.
+L.A. Lowery That is idiotic logic. Im not saying no one should have kids you moron. I am saying that people who don't have kids should not have to work harder and get paid less cus you want to breed. You choose to have kids, I don't care if your kid is the next einstien. If you cannot afford to have kids then don't have them. It's not the responsibility to corporations or the government to help you jackass. Having children is selfish. In your greedy little mind you think are becoming immortal. You want to be loved by someone who doesn't know any better. You want to be feel like a wise man. Finally that logic of " blah blah my kid will be the next doctor blah blah" is complete trash. Your kids can be the next hitler or stalin. I respect people who raise their kids without needing everyone to be screwed over. People who have kids and demand everyone to carry their burden, to make the world safe for their dumb children deserve no respect. Now shut the fuck up.
+Chaoteee I was raised by two working parent and so where my parents and so were countless children in Russian. Guess what it doesn't mean my parents love me any less or their parents loved them any less. You should thank the so called breeders they create the adults that will take care of you when you are sick and old and can't take care of yourself. I worked at an ALF (nursing home) recently and believe me even if you think you'll never end up in think again. There are men and women who had strokes and heart attacked and can't take care of themselves. Instead of looking down at parents be grateful they are willing to take on the enormous responsibility of raising a human being to wipe your ungrateful ass should you ever get sick and need to go to a doctor guess what someone had to give that doctor birth, wipe the doctors ass. Some breeder had to bring your ungrateful ass into this world as well. Why are you so selfish. Many families can't afford for one parent to stay home. parental leave benefit everyone not just the parent and the child. Children grown up knowing that there is someone to take care of them they grown up mentally strong and happy. Which makes them better adults and better able to take care of your ungrateful ass. If you don't want children don't have them, but have some respect for the people who do.
