The Cd Hoverstrike (Un conquered lands) isn't a "Sequel" at all. It's the
same game with 10 new missions, enhanced graphics, better controls and an
added cd sound track.
Your D rating wasn't really explained. All you said was "it's a basic game
and you just shoot stuff" Hardly a worthy critique
It's always interesting to see the Jaguar do texture based 3D. I wonder if
the system had more support and it lived on if we would have seen more
texture based 3D games and how they would have looked.
+A31Chris You seam to know a lot about the Jaguar man. I think this and <skyhammer to their best for texture 3D on the Jag, High Voltage Software made the version of NBA Jam for the Jag that's a sweet game.
+Animated Freak And High Voltage Software had created a development setup that really kicked ass. You can look up Dactyl Joust to see what kind of performance levels they were achieving with it. A man who had done 3D work since SGI(Jurassic Park) workstations and before was so impressed with the performance and resolution that HVS had achieved that all of his Jaguar work now targets a resolution of 320x240. They were going to sell this development setup to Atari but Atari folded before they could.
+Animated Freak It would have never been like the PSX. It seems procedural texturing might have been a good direction for the Jaguar. But it's hard to get procedural texturing to do the kind of textures you want.
While not a great game, this game does show off the Atari Jaguars ability to display clean, texture mapped polygons. Take a good look. Unfortunately my ATI ...
i wouldn't have said it was as bad as all that, its not a bad little game,
I played the cartridge version and didn't mnd it, you just have to know how
to control the craft and where to go as well as what to shoot at, it can be
a bit confusing at first. Anyway in terms of graphics for the Jag I'd have
to say the two best are probably Sky Hammer and Battle Morph, although for
texture mapped polygons on the jag it certainly is way up there
It's interesting to see texture 3D graphics on the Jaguar as it wasn't done
to often. Sky Hammer was probably the best graphics but at least this one
was released in the Jaguars life span and not after.
How is the gameplay?
Yep, this game is definitely the best showcase of textured mapped polygons
on the Jaguar, and they even included lightning effects too! Its a shame
the game itself is merely average. Thanks for the video.
