i owned a 2001 tacoma prerunner for 3 years, it gave me zero problems
(where as all my friends with fords and chevys and jeeps were always
breaking down) it was an amazing truck, though as nails. i eventually sold
it recently and went for another 2001 tacoma, but the doublecab 4x4 this
time. my advice to you is go 4x4, prerunners are hard to sell, i had to
drop my price by a couple grand because nobody wanted a 2wd, finally
someone did, but not till i had lowered my price by 1800
i owned a tocoma in 1998, it was ok, i'm a big guy so i was cramped, it
never rusted, but never got very good mpg, it was a basic truck, 4x4 5
speed, 4 cylinder. i got tired of low power, low mpg and got a 2002 F250
4x4, loved that monster. got 18 mpg with it, i now have a 2012 F250 6.2
engine, 6 speed auto, 4x4, i get 17mpg with it. the tocoma i had was fine,
but the superduties to me are way better. but i am a ford guy. i don't haul
or tow anything, its just a daily driver.
I've owned Chevy (2), Dodge (2), Ford (2), Mitsubishi (1), Honda (1) Accura
(1), Hyundai (3), Peugot (1) & Toyota (4). Toyota is my favorite. I own a
2006 Tundra right now & love it. It's a very comfortable vehicle to drive,
handles great & runs so smooth. I has about 55,000 on it right now. I have
done nothing but regular maintenance (oil, etc.) & new tires this fall.
Most of my buddies drive Dodge, Chevy or Ford & they are constantly talking
about . . . (continued)
You won't regret the Tacoma!! I've owned Toyota trucks for the past 30
years, a Tacoma 4x4 for the past 8!! Nothing wrong with a Chevy but if you
want dependability and something that will hold it's value ya gotta go with
Toyota!! I've owned 4 Vettes and Chevy Pick Up and was afraid to take them
anywhere and had to give them away when I sold them!!☺
They're frames are thin and crappy. Sure it won't rust for a couple of
years but in 10? you'll probably be patching your frame! They don't stand
the test of time. My truck(it is a ford though) is over 35 years old and
has never been undercoated. It still as solid as ever!
. . . having to take their new vehicles in for warranty work or recalls.
Don;t get me wrong, I think Dodge, GM and Ford make really nice trucks and
I would love to own one, but I'm scared to buy one based strictly on
listening to the owners of those vehicles.
yeah, i have noticed even with like 65k they still want upwards of 20k for
a USED truck! thanks man yeah i think if u drive a 4 cyl right youll get
GREAT mpg! thats just me i baby scotti to death and pull an easy 20-22mpg
all day
wow really? thats a big truck there haha a REAL truck ya might say lol. 6
speed auto hah isnt that insane use to be a 2 speed powerglide hahaaa now
6!!! thanks man
