Yeah, that's happened to me, too. Where you get used to hearing a song a
certain way, and when you hear a different version, it just doesn't sound
right. Like when we were at Huntington North, Purple-Aires performed after
a choir that had the exact same song as part of their repertoire. The other
school's performance just didn't sound right at all... And it was the same
for Premiers' closer this year. Waubonsie Valley did it a couple years ago,
and I love our version so much more... ha.
im glad you understand that it was a wonderful piece nd tha da speed at
which it was took did create drama.i can c y u say it tough to understand
the beginnin b/c if u never heard da song sang by dis group it would be.
H/e goin off what da song is bout it is understandable y it was taken so
fast b/c it mostly a conversation nd da first part is suppose to sound
intense and upset. But i thank you for see most of my point and knowing a
great choir nd choir director when you see it. :)
I agree that the song was well done, and the speed certainly helped to
create an excellent sense of drama. However, in my opinion at least, the
main purpose of music should be to give something meaningful to the
audience. I'm not sure it succeeded in this becuase the first half is so
fast that it can't be understood. Otherwise it is an excellent piece.
to those who thought tha this was too fast that's a personal opinion but u
can not say that it was out of control because in the fast it was kept at a
constant pace and tempo. i believe it was done wonderfully and that the
director did a wonderful job on style, but then tha might be because those
r my ppl and that was mine director too
actually I thought the tempo here is very affective... I'm not part of the
choir though. I think your conductor has a lot of control over the tempo,
that's the reason why instead of rushing the rest of the song, it was
slowed down and maintained to make it even more dramatic. ^^ gj Ben Davis HS
Wow, this is amazing, though the first few opening lines could have been
enunciated a bit clearer, but it could just be the video quality, but this
is a tough piece. We are working on it here at Erskine College and have
just begun, it is coming along. Though we need work
Then you aren't paying enough attention. I can keep up just fine. Bubba C
wouldn't make it this fast if he didn't think they could've handled it.
Plus, I think it's really cool when it's sped up. Makes it more exciting
(and challenging to keep in tempo) to watch.
Wow - what an interesting interpretation of this. Unlike any other
performance I've heard of it. Sure, the tone suffers slightly because of
tempo and a number of other factors but still very, very impressive. Good
for you guys!
omg! are u tellin me this choir didnt make the top 8?!? that was amazing, I
kno Warren Central also did this, & this performance might have been better
than theirs.
