Trying to figure out what that noise is around 2krpm check my other video for a closer look.
350z transmission rattle noise
my 350z transmission just started making this noise the other day. does anyone know what could be causing this? it is a 2005 track edition with 35k miles. it runs ...
I had a Infiniti I35, It started off like with symptoms like running a
little rough. I thought I had a clogged filter or bad gas. It then got
worse over a few weeks til finally it was unbearable and the car did not
want to run over 35-40 mph or 2000 rpm without making a rattling noise in
the engine that sounded like a bunch of aluminum cans being thrown around.
I took it to my local mechanic and he looked for the error code. It only
showed one, which did not really suit the problem, but following what we
thought was common sense problem solving, we changed the spark plugs,
inspected the injectors, checked for a clogged converter and . We had a
few things we put on the idea block, but did not do and that was change the
fuel pump and replace any sensors that might be bad. Additionally I have
always used PREMIUM fuel only. Nothing seemed to work. Finally, he
advised me to take it to the Infiniti dealer which I did. They checked it
out and said my problem was the transmission was going bad and causing the
cascade of problems. I knew that I had noticed a jerking shift over the
last 8 months in my transmission so the idea did not seem totally
far-fetched. I paid the dealer the $125 for the diagnostic and took the
car back to my local mechanic and orderd a used transmission (for around
$700) I am now waiting on it to arrive and get put in the car. I pray it
works. I would rather fix my car than have a car payment....
it is normal, I know it sounds bad but it is the flywheel. When we got our
z it had that nocie and took it to a z specialty shop and they said it is
normal and we changed the flywheel out to a light weight flywheel and it is
even louder, but normal. In parking lots of just sitting people think there
is something wrong but it is normal.
It might be the TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER. Yet, mine is making the same noise
and I have my mechanic replaced it. Still doing, Mine only does it in cold
start. If yours does it in warm starts you might to get it checked by a
specialist. Good luck!
I think it's normal, my mechanic said its just the oil getting pushed up
into critical components, if the noise stays then it's a problem. My g35
does that and I have a BMW X5 with the same kinda noise
