+Jędrzej Górski A carillon isn't owned by the church. Carillons always were city instruments, and the carillon players were always paid by the city. Not by the church.Even in the 17th century. That's a tradition to play the carillon music at market times, it is even known that in 300 years ago the hits from then were played. So you can't call that a profanation, because it has always been profane, and it IS profane.
