mostly a rural path along a canal. The canal also greatly reduces the
number of crossing conflicts. The USA is mostly not flat, reclaimed lane
and so has relatively fiew opportunities like this, but we do have the C&O
canal path along the Potomac River and some in California's Central Valley.
Most rural long0distance paths in the uSA are in disused railway corridors.
