+Kevin Kiso - Usually contract negotiations are about money, right?  The Serious Moonlight tour was planned to be small venues, maybe 10,000 people.  But when the "Let's Dance" album became so popular, they were booked for 70,000 and more stadiums and arenas and the 300,000 person San Bernardino concert.  That's what I've put together from interviews and Wikipedia.  Earl Slick was hired in his place a few days before the tour began.  And the rest, as they say, is history.  Enjoy the Cosmos David and Stevie!

Bowie saw him at the '82 Montreux Jazz Festival (as did Jackson Browne, who gave him full use of his studio to record SRV and Double Trouble's first LP) and asked him to play on Let's Dance. I don't know why Stevie bailed out...

He's all over the Let's Dance album. He was supposed to be on the Serious Moonlight Tour but negotiations didn't work out.

As the audience booed Stevie at the festival Bowie was the man who saw his talent. Thinking back I think it was so amazing that of all recordings he had him on Let's Dance which was completely opposite of what SRV's musical direction was. That is what makes Bowie Bowie, I record and I am doing the same thing, thanks to him.

No its not, its a fact - Jordan simpley wants to play music, Gilbert even himself admits he wants to play fast for the hell of it. ANd jordan doesnt play scales up and down, or in sequences
