Italy totally dominated the Argentina game. Maradona was fouled much worse by Brazil and sent off for responding in kind to a Brazilian tackle. He never complained about Italy. He acknowledged best team won.

+max rav first, I'm not talking about friendly matches - I'm talking about the group matches where Italy hardly got through. second, Italy shouldn't have been there for the match against Brazil had Gentile been rightfully(!) sent off during the match between Italy and Argentina. He killed Maradona with no consequences. third. in the 84' European cup that Italian team was not in the best four(!) meaning it was a once in a lifetime performance from them -.just like Greece's 2004 European cup win, Brazil could have beaten that Italian team in 9 out ten cases as I concluded.

+fitlessi hardly think they took it too lightly and if they did which is their bag then more fool them, though they didn't they just came up against a team with very classy players themselves.I agree with you about that brilliant Brazilian team but Italy were brilliant themselves and it doesn't matter what they played like in friendlies that Italy team deserved to beat that Brazil team on the day and win the world cup.Oh and Italy had a perfectly good goal disallowed in that game as well so it should have been 4-2 to Italy

+max rav The Italian team was in top form in their last three matches of the world cup - that's all. (just like Greece winning the European cup). They had difficulty getting through from their own group and also they were much weaker after the world cup , which means they weren't the best team at all and would have lost against Brazil in 9 out of ten cases. On the other had the Brazilian team was great before, during, and after the 82' world cup. Unfortunately, they didn't take the match against Italy too seriously and they had made some crucial mistakes during the game. I felt sorry for them as they played the most beautiful football I've ever seen.

+fitless That Brazilian team were just brilliant! However, Italy beat them fair and square in probably the best game of football I have ever witnessed so Italy were deserved champions they did that world cup the hard way
