Traded Jess "Crazy" Streetman a river cane quiver for some Fort Hood flint from Texas. Even with the hot weather we have been having, I just had to work some ...
@LamokaGhost - Some of the Ft Hood material is better than the rest. I
think soaking it in water does help some. Just finished a elk bone knife
for Jess as he got married this past October. He's the one that introduced
me to the Ft Hood flint. I know, I'm running a bit late on a wedding
present. Like I told him, better late then never.
Man Shine that is so AWSOME if or when you want more just call and will
work something out ive started trying to work big pieces down and its slow
but its going glad to see that you've made something's out of the rock that
we picked up cant wait to see the next video
@asparwhite86 - Would you happen to know what the little critter on my
flint knife would be called? I'd of flunked the history test of my choices
were critter or plant. Thanks, S'Bone
@locolobo338 hey tell us how that water worked out for you and i would like
to work something out with you on getting a knife from you out of that
stuff
If the edge of your flint is sharp enough to cut with you have to abraid
it. If you tried to push a flake off while it is sharp, the edge would just
break and hinge on you. By abraiding, or grinding down the edge, it makes a
solid place to put your flaker against to push the flake off without just
breaking the edge.
I just watched both parts of this, and you do amazing work, love the point
man. So what does abrading actually do, and when should you abraid it? I
need to make some of those flakers, i got couple deer antlers that i been
using, but they are from my first buck and dont want to tear em up lol but
they work haha.
@asparwhite86 - I really like the Texas points too. My favorite is the
pedernales and have a few knapped out of Keokuk, Fort Hood, Root Beer,
South Llano River and Guadalupe River flint. Would love to cut a slab of
Alibates big enough to knap a pedernales and add it to the collection.
oh okay , cool ty , that is probably why i had most pieces hinge, or stop
abrupt with a square edge. Thanks alot man, found some more nice pieces of
flint today bud
Memorial Day Tribute - 4th Infantry Division - Fort Hood
I made this video as a Memorial Day Tribute to Fort Hood, the US Army and the 4th Infantry Division out of Fort Hood (before relocating) and all those who have ...
where i was to be stationed before i was honorably discharged under medical
for ashthma. belief is it was kick started after the gas chamber. was going
to be discharged for a hyper-extended knee with ripped tendon, but they say
it healed up. was training to be 19D cav scout. my unit i was to be with is
currently over seas. god bless them and all our soldiers overseas and in
the homefront!!!! HOOAH
Amazing tribute, i had the pleasure of serving with mr. salter. mr santos,
mr garcia and mr kenyon in taji in 2005/2006. i was in D.co 1-4 avn shops
platoon. and i still remember hearing the news when they went down over
baghdad, it was a terrable day for all of the dragon family. but we live on
for them and there memory and we will never forget ! ATTACK !
i was their i was 9 and i was scared to death and when i heard how much
were injured even dead made me just drop to my knees and cry and pray to
god that the families that were hurt by this would make it threw their life
happy and think back to this day as the past and just remember those that
die for who they were and not that they died ;(
Fort Hood, at least when 4th ID was there, was a crazy place to be during
the surge days. It was tag on, tag off, with 1st Cav in Baghdad and
everything seemed so in the moment because you were already counting the
days after you got back, to when you went and replaced the same people who
replaced you.
my grandpa was in the Navy during Korean War and my other grandpa was a spy
and my great great uncle was in a tank division in Normandy on d day and
one of my cousins is a marine and my other cousin is a army ranger god
bless them all thankfully they all lived
This brought tears to my eyes. I was in 1-22 at this time. I saw a few
faces I knew, SSG Kirkland for one doing pushups at the beginning(1:18).
Makes me think of that time and the men I was with, especially the ones who
didn't come home. Thank you.
